Word For Today: You Have Overcome The World

You Have Overcome The World · Friday, July 26th

Pastor Chris

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear…(Luke 21:25-26).
Pastor Chris The events we see in the world today are indications that these are difficult times. Many are disturbed, distraught, and perplexed about their health, finances, jobs, and businesses. Though the Scriptures declare that perilous times will come upon the earth, the believer is enjoined not to fear: "… In the world you shall have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]" (John 16:33 AMP).

You’re not of this world! God has separated you from the world, and given you a life that’s beyond this world; a life of faith and victory through the Word. Your faith is the victory that overcomes the world. You’re more than a conqueror. Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. God has given you a light—His Word—with which to walk through the darkness.
You’ll live victoriously and triumphantly above sickness, disease, inflation and terror as you walk in God’s Word. His power is available in His Word; and you can put that power to work to produce results. It therefore doesn’t matter the extent of the darkness or hardship in the world today; they are opportunities for you to shine and manifest the glory of God. Isaiah 60:2 says, "For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee." Job 22:29 says, "When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up…."

There’s lifting up for you in Christ; so cheer up, for Christ in you is your hope of glory. Hold your head up high and declare, "Christ in me, is my victory over the world."

Confession
My faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Christ in me is my hope of a triumphant and glorious today, and an excellent future; my life is secure in Him who causes all things to work together for my good!

Housewife Dies During Sex With Lover In Hotel

The price of adultery is always tragic if one considers what happened at the weekend in Lagos between a young man and a married woman in a hotel room. The man took the housewife identified as Glory Abbey to a popular hotel where she died during a sex romp between the lovers.
The yet to be identified man quietly abandoned her corpse in the room they lodged and fled without informing the hotel’s management about what happened. The incident happened at Kings of Queens Hotel located at 11, Otunba Oladokun Street, Lanre Bus Stop, Igando, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. What could have caused her death was not yet known because the autopsy report is not yet out.

According to the hotel’s manager identified as Saliu, the woman came to the hotel with the young man, booked a room and went in."After staying for several hours in the room the man came out and told the security men that he wanted to buy food outside and he did not return to the hotel," he said.
They later discovered the woman lying dead on the bed in the room.Saliu said he did not see any physical injury she sustained and could not explain what really caused her death.

The owner of the hotel, Otunba Richard Oladokun, who also confirmed the incident, expressed shock over what happened. He said he was informed about what happened on phone by his manager and he went to the police station at Igando and reported the matter. He said he came with the police to the hotel and found the woman lying dead on the bed and the police took away her corpse to the mortuary.
Oladokun said what surprised him most was that the young man who brought the woman to the hotel initially picked his calls and promised to come back but did not. Rather, he later switched off his phone and no one has been able to contact him again since the incident happened. Nobody has been able to contact the woman’s husband or relatives as there is no address to trace them at the time of this report.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, described Glory’s death as sudden and  unnatural. She said her body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, while the police have since commenced investigation into the matter.
A  similar incident happened sometime ago when a married woman who had four kids was found dead after she went to a hotel in Mushin with her lover who is also married and has kids.
During the sex romp, the woman collapsed and died. After she died, her lover attempted to escape but he was caught and handed over to the police. The police later charged him with murder at Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court Lagos.

Husband Stabs Wife To Death For Bearing Female Children

According to Leadership News, a 48-year-old man (names withheld), has allegedly killed his wife for not being able to give birth to a male child.
The deceased, 46, simply identified as Mama Feyi, was heavily pregnant when she was allegedly stabbed to death by the husband during an early morning dispute.
We gathered that the alleged murderer who hails from Abusoro area in Akure, Ondo State, has since been arrested and is presently being detained at the Ala divisional police station.
Eye witness accounts say the suspect has been having a running battle with his deceased wife for over two years shortly after the woman gave birth to their fourth daughter.
Sources say trouble began a month ago before the brutal murder when the husband complained aloud that his deceased wife is incapable of bearing him a male child and the incident led to a fierce altercation between the couple.
Shocked neighbours expressed disbelief at the death of mama Feyi when one of their next door neighbour, Mr. Isijola, said he was awakened by loud arguments coming from their room very early in the morning.
"I ignored them as it is a norm for them to always argue and have altercations. I decided to ignore them at first but when the noise was getting unbearable, I stepped into their room only to find the lifeless body of the woman on the floor, lying in the pool of her blood. I saw the man holding a knife and he threatened to stab me if I don’t leave.
Isijola continued, "It was when I discovered that he may abscond that I alerted the police who immediately came to arrest him."

Narrating the incident, daughter of the deceased, Feyisara, said, "It all started on Sunday after my mummy had cooked rice. She asked me to go and collect money from my father to prepare stew and on getting to him, he started shouting. But he later gave me N500 which my mum refused to collect. They both argued and had a fight. I had to make a distress call to neighbours to settle the dispute".
According to the daughter of the deceased, "the quarrel started at about 6am when my mum asked him to give her some money for her ante-natal but he refused. They started fighting and before we knew it, daddy brought out a knife and stabbed mummy to death."

Constitution Amendment: House Of Reps Reject Immunity For President, Governors

The House of Representatives on Wednesday passed 85 new clauses to the 1999 Constitution (as amended), among which was the rejection of immunity for the President and state governors facing criminal charges.
By the new provision on immunity, the President, Vice-President, governors and their deputies will vacate office, if convicted of any criminal offence.
A total of 339 out of the 360 members of the House voted on Wednesday to pass the clauses.
Voting and collation of results ended at about 10.43pm.
On immunity, 306 members voted to remove it, 17 opposed it, while 14 abstained.
The House retained four years as the tenure of office of elected officials.
Similarly, 293 lawmakers voted to endorse autonomy for local governments, as against 39 who opposed it. Seven others abstained.

This development meant that the House took a different position on the issue, compared to the Senate, which rejected autonomy for the councils.
Lawmakers also scrapped State Independent Electoral Commissions and transferred the responsibility of conducting council polls to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Independent candidacy was also endorsed by the House, meaning that in future, persons who do not belong to any political party, can stand for elections as individuals.
A total of 313 lawmakers endorsed the provision, while eight opposed it. Twelve others abstained.
Like the Senate, the House retained the controversial proposal on life pension for the President, Vice-President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Deputy Speaker.
A total of 284 lawmakers endorsed the provision, with only 18 opposing it. Thirty-six others abstained.

Other highlights included the transfer of health, housing, electricity and railways from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent List. This implies that states can now make laws on these issues.
However, the issue of minimum wage and labour matters were retained in the Exclusive List.
The House adopted all the recommendations of its report on the Peoples' Public Sessions it conducted across the Federation on November 10, 2012.
The sessions were conducted by its Ad-Hoc Committee on Constitution Review headed by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha.
Lawmakers had to resort to voting manually on Wednesday as attempts to use electronic voting system failed. The much-hyped intervention by NigComsat to rescue the situation failed to work after more than three hours of trying.
The House had co-opted NigComsat on Monday to assist, by installing an improvised electronic voting system with the aid of ipads.
The improvised system was to serve as temporary replacement for the faulty voting system in the House.
The Director-General of NigComsat, Mr. Ahmed Rufai, who supervised the installation of the temporary system on Tuesday, had assured lawmakers that it would work perfectly for the purpose of voting.
However, as members got set to vote on Wednesday, the system failed to work.
Members waited for over three hours as Rufai and his technicians battled to fix the problem to no avail.
Rufai claimed to have tested the system earlier in the morning and ascertained that it worked, but it suddenly failed to transmit signals as voting was about to start around 11am.
In the face of the development, the Speaker, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, opted for manual voting.

The manual voting was a tedious process, involving voting by 339 sitted lawmakers, collation of results and analysing the results to meet the constitutional requirement of two-thirds majority (240) to pass any proposal.
Each member voted using a document containing the 87 changes (clauses) proposed for inclusion in the constitution.
Two of the clauses were later dropped, leaving 85 as passed.

Lagos State Government Dumps 70 Beggars, Others In Onitsha

No fewer than 70 beggars and the homeless were on Wednesday dumped at the Upper Iweka Bridge, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Agents of the Lagos State Government reportedly brought the destitutes to Onitsha.
The destitutes told journalists that they were dumped about 3am at Upper Iweka after being detained in Ikorodu, Lagos, for over six months for alleged wandering and other minor offences by the Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline officials.
The destitutes said they were brought to Onitsha in four buses, escorted by riot policemen.
One of them, Mr. Osondu Mbuto, from Ohaozara in Ebonyi State and a petty trader in Lagos, said he was arrested by the Lagos State Government officials while going to his shop on December 18, 2012.
Mbuto added that the Lagos State Government officials were in company with some policemen.

The Chairman of Nigeria Red Cross Society in the South-East, Dr. Peter Katchy, described the action of the Lagos State officials as condemnable.
He said, "It’s very deplorable; it’s very disheartening that a state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria will bundle people, who are not even indigenes of Anambra State, and dump them under the flyover at Upper Iweka in Onitsha.
"Many of the people, we have interviewed are not indigenes of Anambra State. Some of them are from Ebonyi State; some are from Imo State among other states.
"It is an insult to Anambra State. We shall draw the attention of the governor of Anambra State to ask the reason for such an invasion of his territory.
"We will find out why Lagos State should invade Anambra State territory; and why Lagos State should dump people here and leave them helpless.
"We are here on humanitarian purposes and in response to an emergency. From what we discovered here, this is a human emergency and a human callousness."

Katchy, however, promised that the society would move the destitute to the Anambra State Social Welfare Centre in Onitsha South Local Government for rehabilitation.
The Lagos State Government had dumped another set of beggars at Upper Iweka late last year.

Our Position On ‘Child Marriage’ – Islamic Organisation

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), a Non Governmental Organisation, has called for tolerance on the controversy concerning child marriage.
MURIC’s Director, Ishaq Akintola, made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan.
The statement said that in conformity with the tenets of Islam, age was not part of the conditions which must be met before marriage could be solemnised.
It said that where the bride was a 'minor', Islam prescribes protective solemnisation of marriage to shield the bride from abuse.
"This means that the girl who is deemed to be of tender age is left untouched by the man until she attains puberty.
"Another major condition for child marriage is that the girl herself has the right to repudiate the marriage when she attains maturity if she does not like her spouse."
MURIC believes that honourable and dignifying child marriage is better than child prostitution which is rampant in Nigerian cities and red light zones," it said.

The statement compared the globalisation and promotion of homosexualism, lesbianism and same-sex marriage as a direct challenge to God’s divine order.
The Senate, on the recommendations of the Constitution Review Committee, rejected the deletion of the clause on renunciation of citizenship.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, said that the clause was recommended for deletion because it was considered discriminatory.
He said the clause, which had been in the Constitution since 1979, had nothing to do with child marriage as was being insinuated by some Nigerians.

Word For Today: The Power That Works In You

The Power That Works In You · Thursday, July 25th ·

Pastor Chris

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21).
Pastor Chris
What an inspiring thought revealed to us in our theme verse! It says "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…." It didn’t say "…according to the power that worketh in heaven." This explains that you have a role in the operations of the miraculous in your life. The glory of God is manifested in your life according to the power that works in you.
Even though God, in His sovereignty, can cause certain things to happen for you, He doesn’t want to work outside of you. Some Christians often feel discouraged and frustrated because they’re "praying to God to do something for them," yet to no avail. The issue isn’t with God; they’re the ones to activate the power of God in them, to bring about the desired changes.
In Paul’s epistle to the Philippians, we read of his personal testimony to this effect; he understood that the ability to do the supernatural wasn’t rested in heaven but within him. By the Spirit he said, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Notice that he didn’t say "We can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth us"; rather, this was his personal testimony. What a mentality! Paul couldn’t think failure, defeat or impossibilities; he knew the ability of the Spirit had been granted him to achieve supernatural results, and he spoke accordingly.
Become conscious that God lives in you in His fullness, which means all His power and eternal might are domiciled in your spirit. How do you activate that power to work for you? It’s by consciously meditating on the Word, and speaking in tongues. You can bring that power to bear today on anything, or any area of your life.
Prayer
Dear Father, I thank you for your power that fills me through and through. I can do all things through Christ who energizes me from within! I’m prepped for your glory today, being conscious of the supernatural ability of the Spirit that’s at work in me mightily, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Word For Today: Born With Wealth Untold

Born With Wealth Untold · Wednesday, July 24th ·

Pastor Anita

Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21).
Pastor Anita
Riches, wealth, and honour come from God (1 Chronicles 29:12). He gave these to Abraham and his seed, and Galatians 3:16 lets us know that Christ is the Seed of Abraham: "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." Christ inherited all the blessings of Abraham, and if you belong to Christ, you’re Abraham’s seed, and all the promises that were made to Christ belong to you. "And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:29).

Now, you shouldn’t ask God to make you rich. He doesn’t need to, because you were born the very heir of all the riches and wealth He could ever give, when you were born again. Not only were you born with wealth untold, He gave you the power to get wealth. What you need now is to know the Word of God to chart your course. You can prosper at any level of life and career. Irrespective of your job description, business, country or state, you can be prosperous through Christ.

Don’t let the things people say about the economy shake you. The wealth of this world isn’t reducing. Money is man-made, and it doesn’t determine your wealth. Your wealth will determine how much money is available to you, because money gravitates to men and women of wealth. Isaiah 60:11 says, "Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought."

Confession
I’m an offspring of the Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, and I’m the seed of Abraham, heir of the world. My prosperity is unlimited, for I was born with wealth untold. I lay up gold as dust, and the riches of the nations gravitate to me. Halleluiah!

Word For Today: Submit To His Righteousness

Submit To His Righteousness · Tuesday, July 23rd ·

Pastor Chris

Brethren, my heart’s desire, and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God (Romans 10:1-3).
Pastor Chris
Isaiah 64:6 tells us that man’s righteousness: his own thought-out ways of trying to serve and please God, are as filthy rags. There’s no use having confidence in your so-called good works, to answer for you before God.
This was the dilemma of the children of Israel, which the Apostle Paul decried in our opening text. Though they were zealous for God and engaged in all forms of religious devotions, purifications, oblations, etc., they erred in three distinct ways in their pursuit of righteousness. First, they were ignorant of God’s righteousness, secondly, they went about to establish their own righteousness, and thirdly, they didn’t submit themselves to the righteousness of God.

The third point gives an indication of God’s expectation: we’re to submit to His righteousness, because righteousness isn’t something you attain by your own works; it’s a gift from God. Romans 5:17 says, "…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ." The requirement to attain the righteousness of God is simply to believe in Jesus Christ with all your heart and receive the gift of eternal life. That’s why it’s called righteousness by faith.
Philippians 3:8-9 tells us to embrace this righteousness which is through the faith of Christ Jesus: "…that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith." This righteousness produces in you the rightness of God, such that by instinct you know what is right, and are able to live blameless before God. You didn’t work to attain it, yet it works in you, having been imparted to your spirit as a gift.

Confession
The righteousness of God has been imparted to my spirit, therefore I have the ability to do right, and live joyfully without blame be fore the Father, for His righteousness in me gives me right standing with Him, and superiority over Satan and the demons of darkness.

Word For Today: "Phronesis" Is A Force

"Phronesis" Is A Force · Monday, July 22nd ·

Pastor Chris

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore (1 Kings 4:29).
Pastor Chris
The word translated "wisdom" above is the Greek "phronesis" and it’s a force that controls you. It’s a spiritual elixir that locates you within the framework of God’s will, beyond your natural understanding, causing you to do God’s things God’s way, in God’s time for God’s purpose! It’s also a mind-set; an excellent mind-set that causes you to think in a certain way and to say the right things in the right way at the right time for the right purpose in the right place.
This was the wisdom Solomon received from the Lord that caused him to excel in good judgment, so much so that the Bible says, "…there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom" (1Kings 4:34). God gave Solomon an extraordinary amplitude of comprehension; he had practical wisdom.

"Phronesis" propels you to make accurate choices, sound judgments and decisions, and to do things right the first time. You can develop "phronesis" through studying and meditating on the Word of God and through praying in the Holy Ghost—speaking in tongues. "O, but I thought the Word says Christ has been made unto us wisdom from God?" you might ask.

Yes. But that wisdom is "sophia" (Greek) which means theoretical wisdom, or insight into reality; it means all the collective understanding of all things. There’s also a third kind of wisdom called "sunesis"; this is critical wisdom; the ability to understand concepts and see relationships between them. It suggests a quickness of apprehension; the penetrating consideration which precedes actions. Whereas, "phronesis" is practical wisdom; it’s a force that makes you do and say the right things before you even think.
God gives you "sophia"—insight into reality, so that you can have "sunesis"—an understanding, for the purpose of developing in you "phronesis"; a mind-set for a successful and extraordinary life.

Prayer
Dear Father, I thank you for your Word that imparts wisdom to my spirit, and gives me a mind-set for success, victory and dominion. I deal excellently in all my affairs today, and make accurate judgments and decisions because of your wisdom that propels me from within, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Rihanna Rocks Grey Hair; Steps Out in See-Through Playsuit -(Photos)

Rihanna is one star whose day to day outfits scream 'See Me'! Really, you can't help but see her.

She's also known for her 'very skimpy' fashion sense...

We're used to seeing Rihanna wearing skimpy outfits even when off the stage.
Whatever she wears, she shows enough skin to make you want to look again!

But at least this time she has an excuse to wear as little as possible with London battling soaring temperatures.

The Barbadian singer was spotted in this see-through string playsuit as she stepped out with her newly-dyed grey hair on Thursday.
With the city feeling incredibly humid, Rihanna opted for the outfit, which clearly revealed her white bra and nude knickers underneath.

The hair colour sure suits her... what do you think of the playsuit tho? Would you rock it?

SHAME as NJC Finds Former Chief Judge Of FCT Guilty Of Judicial Corruption

The National Judicial Council, NJC, at the end of its two-day crucial meeting in Abuja, yesterday, found the former Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Hassan Gunmi, who had resigned to become an Emir in Zamfara State, guilty of judicial corruption.

In a statement yesterday, the council said it was satisfied that the ex-CJ perverted the course of justice in a case involving a company, Nestello Gateway Group, and the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abubakar Yari.
Describing the conduct of Justice Gunmi pertaining to the case as "most unethical and highly reprehensible," NJC said it decided not to take punitive measures against him considering that he had voluntarily bowed out of office.
The council, however, warned that "henceforth, any similar misconduct by any judicial officer will be visited with severe sanctions".

Policeman Drives Against Traffic, Knocks Down Woman And Her Baby

Culled from Punch Metro
Punch MetroReports that a police corporal, identified simply as Friday, has been accused of knocking down a teacher, Mrs. Taskirat Anjolaiya, and her baby, Ammarah.
It was learnt that as a result of the incident, the mother and daughter sustained pelvic fracture, brain injury and a broken jaw amongst others.

According to eyewitnesses, the policeman, who is attached to FESTAC Police Division, was driving against traffic on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway when he knocked down the victims. We learnt that the graduate of Mathematics Education was alighting from a commercial bus with her child and had not noticed the police patrol van coming from the wrong direction. The victim’s husband, Sulaiman, said the policeman claimed he was running an errand for the Divisional Police Officer, Ibrahim Zango.

The policeman was said to have told them that he was instructed by the DPO to drop off a woman at the airport in Ikeja and he drove against traffic to avoid traffic congestion on the appropriate route so that she would not miss her flight. He said, "The accident occurred on June 23, 2013. My wife was on her way to a religious progamme when a police driver drove recklessly on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. He was driving against traffic and shouting at drivers on the right side of the road to clear out. "He eventually knocked down my wife and baby while they were alighting from a bus.“The policeman’s first concern at the scene of the accident was to immediately get a cab to convey the woman in his vehicle to her destination."

We learnt that the policeman rushed the victims to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, and deposited N70,000 for their treatment. At LUTH however, doctors at the emergency ward discovered that the mother of three had sustained a pelvic fracture, facial bruises, and brain injury while the baby, Ammarah, also suffered deep facial cuts and a broken jaw. Sulaiman lamented that since the incident, over N500, 000 had been spent on treatment. He said the policeman had abandoned the victims at the hospital since depositing the N70, 000.He expressed disappointment over how the DPO handled the matter when they went to report the matter at the station.

"A few days after the accident, when I could no longer bear the pressure alone, I went to see the DPO and I told him what happened. Zango lambasted me before offering us additional N10, 000," he said. Sulaiman lamented that this was too little given the fact that he was unemployed and had spent all his savings. He expressed disappointment that the police, who had been charged with the duty of protecting lives, were the ones inflicting hardship on the family.
Our correspondent, who visited the victim at Ward E3 on Thursday, observed that she was recuperating. However, some nurses, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said the head trauma she sustained was still affecting her.

One of them said, "She gets up from her bed and roams the hospital. Most of the time we have to strap her back to the bed to prevent her from going astray and I cannot say when she will be discharged," she said.
Sulaiman said his wife was a teacher and he feared if she would recover completely. "I have been unemployed for several months. My wife is a teacher at Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School and she was the one supporting us until these  injuries due to the behaviour of this police corporal who has now abandoned us."The accident could have been avoided if the police man obeyed simple traffic regulation. Now, the action of the policeman has resulted in serious brain injury to my wife."

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident. She said disciplinary action was being taken against the DPO, while the police driver had been detained. "It is really a pathetic case and no one is happy about it. You were the one that just informed us of the incident. We have started taking disciplinary action against the DPO and the corporal. We will hold a meeting on the issue on Friday," she said.
Braide however said she could not say if financial support would be given to the family until after the meeting.

Coscharis Warehouse Gutted with fire; Goods Worth Billions, Destroyed (Photos)

The warehouse of an automobile company, Coscharis Nigeria Limited, was razed on Thursday at Kirikiri Industrial Estate, Apapa.Workers of the company said goods worth billions of naira were destroyed by the fire that reportedly started about 4am.

Eyewitnesses said that the fire which started around 4a.m. when electricity supply was restored to the area by the Power Holding Company, PHCN, lasted for hours. By the time firefighters from the Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigerian Navy arrived the scene, the intensity of the fire had escalated as a result of materials such as computer equipment, petrochemical products, vehicles, inverter batteries, auto spare parts, motorcycles and tyres, stored in the warehouse. The firefighters were said to have battled to put it out for over five hours.

The burnt warehouse owned by business mogul, Cosmas Maduka, was said to have been undergoing renovations after one of its divisions was moved to another area of Lagos.
A source said, "The warehouse has been undergoing some renovations so we are not ruling out electrical spark as the cause of the inferno."The section where the goods were kept was locked, so it was not possible to salvage any goods. We just had to wait for the fire service officials to come."What we have lost today runs into billions of naira. You know we just restocked the warehouse on Wednesday; over four containers of deep cycle inverter batteries were offloaded into that warehouse."

An employee  of the company, who spoke on condition of anonymity, lamented that the fire would have been curtailed if there were enough fire extinguishers or hydrants in the warehouse at the time the fire started. He said, "The fire started from an office inside the warehouse around 4am and that office was locked at the time. We tried putting off the fire with few fire extinguishers we could lay our hands on, but they were not enough."There was no fire hydrant or fire engine in the warehouse that would have enabled us prevent the fire from spreading to other parts. Before we knew what was happening, the whole place was in flames."

However, the company’s Financial Controller, Godwin Umaka, who declined to give the value of the property destroyed, said the company did all it could to prevent the fire from escalating."We had enough fire extinguishers in the warehouse that would have been used to quench the fire when it started, but the problem was that the fire started at night when most of our employees were not at work. It is too early  to give the exact value of the property destroyed and what we are trying to do now is to put out the fire," Umaka said.
The fire lasted for six hours before it was eventually brought under control.Armed policemen deployed from Kirikiri Police Division were seen guarding the premises to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the incident to loot.

Word For Today: Faith: Your Currency To Rule Your World

Faith: Your Currency To Rule Your World! ·

Pastor Chris

And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions (Hebrews 11:32-33).
Pastor Chris The Lord Jesus said if you have faith, as a grain of mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible to you (Matthew 17:20).Your faith is your currency to rule your world.

The Bible tells us of certain men and women who through faith dominated the world of their time (Hebrews 11:32-33). The eleventh chapter of the book of Hebrews gives us an insightful chronicle of the extraordinary accomplishments of some of these great men and women of faith: how they subdued kingdoms, and functioned in righteousness, standing their grounds in their convictions. Their faith serves as an example for us today. Their deeds were written for our inspiration and edification; letting us know we can do the same.

Let’s reflect on the attitude of one of these great heroes of faith—Joshua. By faith, he led the children of Israel to march round the intimidating walls of Jericho seven times, with the menacing walls coming down flat on the seventh count, as they gave the victory shout (read Joshua 6:16-20). You can live every day in victory and dominion through faith. The Bible admonishes us to be "...followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12). Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, the prophets of old, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Apostles have all set examples of faith for us to emulate.

You can face and overcome whatever obstacle is before you by speaking forth words of faith. You can effect changes and do great things in your world today. You too can manifest righteousness and give life to the dead or hopeless situations. You can revive your business if it’s been grounded, or keep it growing from glory to glory. You can excel greatly in ministry, in your academics, career or profession and be a wonder to your world. Your faith is the currency; rule your world with it.

Confession
The Word of faith is in my heart and my mouth, and it prevails as I speak it forth. My life is the testimony of God’s grace and a harvest of blessings because I walk by faith in His Word. I’m more than a conqueror, and my faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Halleluiah!

Fans, Paps Pile Up In Front of Royal Hospital As the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge Expect Royal Baby (Photos)

Kate Middleton is expected to give birth any day now – it was initially thought her due date was July 13 but Saturday came and went without any sign of the baby.
Speculation is rife as to the gender of the baby and bookies have been offering odds on names with Alexandra and George as favourites.

A change in the laws of succession announced in October 2011 meant that boy or girl, the firstborn child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, would be third in line to the throne.
Prince William was born in the same famous hospital wing in 1982 – with his brother Harry following two years later.
He made his public debut with his parents outside the hospital, wrapped in a white blanket carried in the arms of his mother Diana.

A lot of Royal fans/Journalists and others have already made camp outside the Royal hospital, waiting for the birth of the royal baby.

I hear there's already an application named Royal Baby app for iPhone for getting updates on the baby's birth.
The app - which is suitable for iOS 5.0 or later on iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches - will provide updates about the birth, the baby, the parents and any other newsworthy developments.
It will sync news stories related to the Royal family's new arrival and any relevant Twitter developments, plus provide histories into previous royal births and the Middleton family.

LOL... Oyibo!

Must Read: OUTCASTS OF BIG BROTHEL AFRICA ... Beverly Osu (by Uzor Ngoladi) ... My Opinion

Beverly Osu - Nigeria's BBA Rep & Uzor (a writer)
So I just came across this write-up by a famous writer/journalist and decided to share:

All hail the queen of Delta State. Roll out the drums and the red carpet for the most anticipated heroic welcome.

The first lady of Delta State in collaboration with other women rights group should set mobilization in motion. Nothing spared, Beverly the outcast has put the ‘the big heart’ state on global map of ignominy.
She has just shattered Afrocandy’s infamous public sex record.

She is expected back to Nigeria with the coveted BBA prize money into the warm embrace of her cult like followers.

Delta State government and rights groups must speak out now or remain in perpetual silence.
No sitting on the fence as we await a press release either in commendation or condemnation of the fingering session and sex romp that took place in Big Brothel Africa. Our outcast must be officially recognized for exemplary misconduct in throwing her legs wide open for the South African pervert.

Berverly the outcast, enjoy your stay in BBA. South African corporations are renowned for digging profitable holes in Nigeria’s business landscape. Give your pot of gold to the gold diggers.

Like our randy hip hop musicians would sing in their various message of sex; ‘your waist all I want is your waist, shake up your bum bum, kpuheee jaheee, take banana till you go yooo.’
But don’t allow the blokes to impregnate you.

We already have enough bastards in Nigeria who enlarge the ranks of insurgents and militants. If per chance you don’t emerge victorious, I will propose you for the audition of another forthcoming sex reality TV show.

This time, not in the confines of a house but on the streets where whores of your type will widen their legs with perverts zooming in and out publicly.
The longest lasting duo will win a million dollars. World renowned multinational companies are already queuing up for headline sponsorship.
Of a truth, these 28 virile young miscreants locked up in a house of booze for ninety one days, idling and fiddling away will soon emerge as role models.
In the face of excruciating poverty, unemployment and HIV/AIDS pandemic among African youths, we deem it expedient to promote casual unsafe sex on camera. Who am I to sit in judgment?

Beverly the outcast, go ahead. Receive the fingering and ‘forkering’ including the blow jobs. The world is your oyster. Let all the feminist associations disband and remain dumb and deaf forever.
You are highly recommended for a national honour of MFR, most fingering realist! Go ahead and receive it. It’s a free world, it’s your life, and you were born that way.
You are showcasing your God given talent. Our jurisprudence in Nigeria makes no provision for indecent exposure.
Arise ye people and line up the streets for Beverly’s home return. We shall wave the Nigerian flag in sham and shame at the airport both at Lagos and Asaba.
You have accomplished great things. Delta no dey carry last!

These are some responses to this article

Okay, well written..
That is his opinion...
This is Mine... (See below)

My first reaction to this article was rage! You ask why? 'cos I'm Deltan.
But as a professional, rage shouldn't be a propelling factor. So I'll go easy.

Who asked his opinion? Everyone has an opinion and freedom to share it... so that question is irrelevant.

I always preach constructive criticism...
Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. In collaborative work, this kind of criticism is often a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards.

Constructive criticism is more likely to be accepted if the criticism is focused on the recipient's work or behavior. That is, personality issues must be avoided as much as is possible. Critical thinking can help identify relevant issues to focus on.

It is a shame that the above article which cannot be termed 'Constructive criticism', was written by a socalled 'renowned' writer...
  1. "WHO is this article aimed at? Beverly (the culprit) who is still IN the Big Brother Africa House and cannot read this, or The Nigerian Government, or The Delta State Government?"
Who else noticed that Delta appeared more times in the entire article, than Nigeria? I guess the answer to the above is the latter... The Delta State Government.

     2.  Who said she is expected back in Nigeria with the coveted price? Is she the only representative?

Delta State government and rights groups must speak out now or remain in perpetual silence.

    3.  Is it actually the place of the Delta State Government to speak out on such frivolous issues? Yeah, it's
frivolous! It is laughable to think that amidst the on-going political unrest in the Niger Delta region,
someone actually expects the Delta state Government to  bother with the likes of Beverly???

Like our randy hip hop musicians would sing in their various message of sex

   4.  There he goes again, generalizing! Our randy hip hop musicians?
         * Are all our hip hop musicians randy?
         * With lines such as "all I want is your waist", does that make one randy?
What exactly is the meaning of randy? (pls look it up) ... Is it a direct synonym for one who uses such
         lines?

In summary,
Having read the article over and over, I fail to see its exact subject. From its exaggerated heading, to the consistent repetition of Delta state, then to Nigeria having enough bastards and every other vulgar term used, I can't but wonder what message the writer is trying to pass across.
Beverly is representing Nigeria in the ongoing Big Brother Africa #TheChase game, and not the state!
Aren't there other Nigerians who have done such? How does the State come into play?
I suppose the writer is not aware that Melvin, Nigeria's 2nd representative in the Big Brother game is also from Delta State. Anyone watching the show would know that Melvin & Beverly have very different personalities... This brings me back to the question... 'What has this got to do with State?'
Should the Delta State government and rights groups also speak out now or remain silent forever?
Speak out on what exactly anyway?

In as much as I do not support Beverly's actions, there are better ways to do this without all this name-calling and homeland referrals...
Conclusively, I'll repeat, this article is aimed at who exactly? Beverly Osu who is still in the Big Brother House and can't read this? Or the Delta State Government... who I'm certain, wasn't even aware a daughter of the state was representing Nigeria, until the game commenced! Also, what good would it do Nigeria or Nigerians for the Delta State Government to speak up?

By the way, it's not 'Delta no dey carry last', it's 'Warri no dey carry last'! take note.
LOL.

Photo: Woman Burns Son’s Face with Hot Spoon, Stabs Him With Broken Bottle

A woman, Sakirat Attah, 25, has been arrested by the police at Elemoro Division, Lekki, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, for severely scalding her son’s face.
The petty trader who resides at Abijo village in Ibeju Lekki, allegedly carried out the dastardly act while punishing little Daniel for licking their neighbour’s soup. It was gathered that Sakirat also used a broken bottle to stab Daniel in the head during her fit of anger and he sustained a deep cut in the head. A  police source said that the victim’s neighbours rescued him from his mother and quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital to forestall excessive loss of blood. The trouble started for the little boy when their co-tenant allegedly caught him licking their pot of soup and reported him to his mother. The mother of the child was said to have dragged her son inside her room and locked the door. She allegedly lit her stove and put an iron spoon on it to get hot and used it to burn her son’s face and hands as punishment. It was also gathered that when the little boy was not cooperating with her, she allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed him in the head before neighbours who heard the boy crying for help entered the woman’s room and rescued him.
During  interrogation, the little boy allegedly admitted licking the soup because he was very hungry since his mother did not provide food for him to eat on time. The neighbours, it was learnt, reported the matter to the police who arrested the woman.
Also during  interrogation, the culprit allegedly admitted scalding her son with hot spoon to teach him a lesson not to steal again, adding that she did not know that the torture would cause the boy such injuries.
After investigation, she was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on a one count charge of assaulting a minor and causing bodily harm.
The offence, the prosecutor, Supol E. C. Ekuma said, contravened section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding chief magistrate, Mrs. Femi Segun admitted her on bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum with proof of two years tax payment to the  Lagos State Government.
She also directed that one of the sureties must be a blood relation, while the other must be a community leader.
