Nigerian Government Donates To Kenya On Westgate Terror Attack

The Federal Government through the Nigerian embassy in Nairobi has donated an undisclosed amount of money to Kenyan Government to help it manage the effects of a recent terror attack.
The attack by Islamist militants on a Nairobi shopping mall killed at least 72 people and destroyed part of the complex.
Three floors collapsed after the blasts and a separate fires weakened the structure of the vaulted, marble-tiled building with officials saying that 10 to 15 attackers launched the attack.
Speaking on the attack, the High Commissioner of Nigeria to Kenya, Ambassador Akin Oyateru said that no Nigerian living in Kenya was affected by the Al-Shabab’s attack.
He spoke with journalists at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja via a teleconference where he said the Federal Government has already decried the attack on innocent citizens as gruesome and senseless.
The envoy stated that about 2, 500 Nigerians living in Kenya have been advised to be cautious about further attack by the terrorists.
He confirmed the donation made to Kenyan Government.
He said, “It is a privilege to be able to brief you about the happening in the last few days.
“As you are quite aware, there was a terrorist attack in Kenya, which ended yesterday. As I speak to you, mop up operation is still on-going.
“The government is giving counselling for those who need it. Fortunately, no Nigerian citizen was affected ever since the attack started. The government of Nigeria condemns the attack.
“We have given a modest sum of money to Kenya Government to assist them on various damages accruing from the attacks. It is a modest sum.”

Kenyan Mall Shootings: Faces of Victims Were Burnt, Hands Cut Off To Prevent Identification + Adults Climbed Over Kids to Escape

The terrorists

Militants who stormed the Kenyan shopping mall reportedly burnt victims' faces and cut off their hands in an attempt to conceal their identities before piling the bodies up by the main door to slow the progress of the rescue teams.

One security officer said the mall had been turned into ‘an abattoir’ within half an hour as gunmen went on the rampage.
As shocking details emerged of the horrors committed inside the Westgate shopping centre, it was also reported that an injured woman had been sexually abused at gunpoint in front of young hostages.
It is believed that she has been shot in the shoulder, while her child has been killed. Details of the incident were posted hundreds of times on Facebook.
The woman is said to have been able to speak several times with her husband, who is outside the shopping centre – but last night he had heard nothing from her for several hours.

Another witness who was hosting a cookery competition in the Kenyan mall attacked by terrorists claimed today that adults acted like ‘animals’ during the attack by climbing on top of children to escape.

Kamal Kaur - who was hosting the competition for 33 children at the Westgate shopping centre in Nairobi on Saturday - said her own daughter and son, aged 12 and eight, were injured in the attack.

The radio presenter added that somebody carried away her daughter after the girl’s leg was badly injured - and she could only say a prayer that she would be safe.
Mrs Kaur told BBC News in an emotional interview: ‘I had about 30 to 33 kids with me. The shooting was going on. We were in the corner. I was telling everybody "bend down".
‘The adults were worst - they were animals, they were climbing on top of the kids to jump over the walls. I was trying to say “there are little children over there” - they were stepping on the children.

According to CBS News, a 42-year-old woman Marilyn Edge is a mother of two who poisoned her 9-year-old daughter Faith, and her 12-year-old son Jaelen on Sunday because she had lost custody of them last week and was supposed to hand the children over to their father, Mark Edge. Their divorce and custody battle had been contentious, and in the end, Edge decided that she would rather not have her children at all than to let their father take care of them.
Since then, Edge has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder. Now according to KTLA, she has asked the presiding judge to give her the death penalty. At a hearing earlier this week, Edge reportedly repeatedly asked the judge to give her the death penalty after being asked about setting an arraignment date. Her response to such questions was, “Only if you promise me the death penalty.

Father of 10 Kidnaps & Kills Neighbour’s 5-year Old Son After His Parents Failed To Pay Ransom

The State Security Service has arrested a father of 10, Saturday Dewakei, who allegedly kidnapped Abubakar Adamu, the five-year-old son of his neighbour and killed him when his demand for a N5m ransom was not met.

Punch reports Dewakei, 43, was said to have entered his neighbour’s room at Aso ‘C’ Gbagalape, Mararaba area of Abuja through the ceiling on April 19, 2013 and abducted Adamu while he was asleep.

The SSS tendered the remains of the victim on Wednesday, which were mainly bones, including his ribs, femur, dental cavity and a locally-made pistol that was recovered from the suspect.
Parading the suspect in Abuja on Wednesday, the SSS Deputy Director, Operations, FCT Command, Ibrahim Halilu, explained that  Dewakei killed the boy in an uncompleted building and dumped his body in a water-filled soakaway when the ransom he demanded was not paid.

He stated that the victim’s father, identified as Isah, paid Dewakei N100,000, adding that the suspect murdered Adamu because he was dissatisfied with the amount.
Halilu stated that Dewakei was apprehended by operatives when he accepted the offer of additional N300,000 after he had killed his victim.

“Investigation revealed that Dewakei killed the child and dumped the body in a soakaway when the ransom was not paid. He has taken operatives of this service to the scene of crime where the remains of the kidnapped boy were recovered,”Halilu said.
Dewakei, who appealed to Isah for forgiveness, said he kidnapped the boy. He said,
“I did not kill him. The victim was running away and he fell into the soakaway. I brought him out, but he had died because his hands were tied. The boy  died in my arms; the parents should please forgive me. I only kidnapped him to make small money.”

SHOCKING: Pakistani Man Drowns His Own Daughter, Because He Wanted a Son not a Daughter

A Pakistani man Umar Zaib has been arrested for drowning his own one-and-a-half years old daughter, because he wanted a son, not a daughter. When probed he said: "It was a mistake, I made a big mistake. I don't know what was going through my mind when I did it."

His 24 year old wife Sumera, had a very different story to tell. According to her, "It was late at night but my husband told me we all had to visit his sister, but we stopped close to the river, I had both our daughters with me. My husband told me I wasn't holding Zainab properly and he took her from me.In front of my eyes, he threw her in the river. I was helpless, I started crying, Zainab was screaming in the water but when I tried to save her he beat me.

Pleading for help, Sumera says her husband threatened to kill her as well if she told anyone, so for several days she was too scared to go to the police. Sumera says her husband threatened to kill her as well if she told anyone, so for several days she was too scared to go to the police. But finally she found the courage to tell her parents.

Sumera also says she is certain of her husband's motive in killing their daughter. "Since our first daughter has born, he wasn't happy, he wanted a son, He said if I had another daughter, he'd kill our first child, Zainab. When, eight weeks ago, I did have another girl, he kept threatening more and more, then he did it.

The United Nations Children's Fund, Unicef, has a team dedicated to the issue in Pakistan. It says girls are murdered primarily because of cultural pressures and poverty. But for years, rights groups in Pakistan have also accused law enforcement agencies of not taking the issue seriously.

GRAPHIC PHOTO: Customs Officer Killed @ Seme Border by Angry Mob

culled from Punch
There was mayhem at the Seme border area of Lagos State on Thursday after a 35-year-old man, Saturday Joel, was shot by officials of the Nigerian Customs Service.
Eyewitnesses said Joel was hit by a stray bullet while some customs officers were trying to apprehend a motorist who was smuggling a red Volkswagen bus from Benin Republic into Nigeria.
It was learnt that after the shooting, some residents took to the streets in protest. The residents were said to have alleged that customs officials had killed at least three motorists this month under the pretext that they were smugglers.
It was learnt that in the ensuing pandemonium, the customs officials stationed in the area fled. However, a Superintendent of Customs, identified as J. I Motojelu, was said to have been driving by at the time.
PUNCH Metro learnt that in retaliation, the angry mob, led by a community leader, dragged the officer out of his Toyota Corolla car marked ABJ 663 DW, and killed him.
It was learnt that the irate mob, also set the deceased officer’s vehicle ablaze and set up bonfires at the centre of the road.
The culprits were said to have used the opportunity to steal some items that had previously been seized by customs.
Sources told our correspondent that some customs officials and policemen later returned to the scene and fired shots to disperse the mob.
Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, said his men attempted to put out the fire but they had to retreat because of the sporadic gunshots in the area.
It was learnt that the victim had been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
But the NCS Public Relations Officer, Seme Command, Ernest Olattah, said in a statement that the officer was killed while on his way to attend a meeting at the command.
He said, “We announce the gruesome killing of one of our senior officers by some smugglers in the Ashipa area of Seme around 9.50am on Thursday. The deceased officer, while in his official uniform, unarmed, and driving to the command’s headquarters for a routine meeting, was accosted by a mob who forced him out of his vehicle.
Led by an identified chief of the community, the officer was murdered in cold blood, while his vehicle was set ablaze.”
The customs spokesman said efforts were on to apprehend the culprits adding that the customs had achieved many feats this year alone.

This is SAD! It shows how very lawless the country is. Unfortunately, it's usually innocent people that get entangled in these killings!
I sincerely hope something is done fast, to stop these unwarranted killings and jungle justice in our beloved country Nigeria!

UPDATE: Fracas In Ikorodu As Trigger-happy Policeman Kills Okada Rider

Mayhem Broke out in Ladega, Ojubode area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Tuesday after a policeman attached to the Rapid Response Squad allegedly killed a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly called okada rider.
It was learnt that the policeman, identified simply as Haruna, in company with three of his colleagues, had arrested the okada riders for allegedly breaking the state traffic law. He opened fire on the rider, identified only as Kunle, when he resisted arrest.
It was also learnt that a passerby, Modikat Babatunde, was mistakenly hit by the bullet.

Chairman, Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State, Ikorodu Branch, Mr. Kayode Jimoh, told our correspondent that the incident occurred around 2.30pm.
Jimoh said, "Around 2.30pm, four policemen attached to RRS came in a white Toyota Hilux van and parked around Ladega junction. The police driver remained inside the van while three policemen, identified as Haruna, Ayodele and Ismaila, alighted from the vehicle.
"The policemen were trying to seize the bike from Kunle but he resisted. Haruna suddenly cocked his rifle and opened fire, killing him on the spot. The bullet also injured a woman who was close by."

The incident compounded the usual traffic snarl in the area as colleagues of the deceased protested the killing of their colleague.
The killer policeman and his team were said to have fled after the incident.
The second victim, Babatunde, sustained a superficial injury on her hand.
Babatunde said, "I went to collect N50,000 as part of my contribution to a cooperative society when I heard gunshots. The bullet hit me in the hand but it did not penetrate.
"Unfortunately, in the pandemonium, the N50,000 was stolen. The government must see to it that those policemen are brought to justice."

Jimoh lamented the extortion by policemen, adding that he had complained many times to the police authorities about the excesses of RRS policemen.
He said it was unfortunate that many okada riders had been killed in the state by policemen since the enforcement of traffic law began last year and no policeman had been arrested.
He said, "Haruna and his colleagues are very notorious for extortion, most times they don’t even arrest errant okada riders. They go to places that are not restricted and seize the motorcycles.
"They then take the okada to Agric area of Ikorodu and urge you to negotiate the release of the impounded okadas. They usually extort between N10, 000 and N20,000 from us before releasing our bikes."

We learnt that the commander, RRS, ACP Hakeem Odumosu, had to come to the area to restore normalcy. Odumosu was said to have promised the irate mob that justice would be served.
Soldiers were also said to have arrived the area to assist the police.
As of 6pm, however, the mob refused to allow the police to take the corpse away as they alleged foul play.
When contacted on the telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back as she had yet to get full details on the incident.
In a related development, a policeman allegedly shot and killed a youth in Ajah area of the state.
The youth was said to have been killed by the police because he stabbed another man in Ilaje area during a clash.

UPDATE:
The late okada rider is probably a FUTA student who came to Lagos 'to make small money'. He has been identified as Kunle aka Ifa.

Nigerian Troops Kill Boko Haram Second in Command, Abu Saad – JTF

The Nigerian military has announced that it has killed the deputy leader of the Boko Haram sect during onslaught against the group in Borno State.
The military Joint Task Force, JTF, said it killed Momodu Bama – aka Abu Saad – on August 4, during an offensive by the sect on a Mobile Police Base, and Bama Town.

Abu Saad was Boko Haram’s Operation Officer and second in command to Abubakar Shekau and was one of the most "vicious and heartless killer in the group with penchant for slaughtering his victims," the military said in a statement on Tuesday.

Before his death, the JTF placed a N25 million bounty on him.
The military said Abu Saad was killed alongside his father, Abatcha Flatari, who was described as "one the spiritual mentors" of Boko Haram.
He was "in charge of indoctrinating child foot soldiers who are mainly abducted children," Sagir Musa, spokesman of the Borno JTF, said in the statement.

The military increased its offensive on the sect and other criminal groups in three northeastern states – Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe – after a State of Emergency was declared there in May.

44 Massacred in Borno Mosque

About 44 people praying at a mosque in Konduga town, some 22 miles outside Maiduguri, Borno state, have been gunned down by suspected Islamic militants, security agents said.
A Department of State Service, DSS, agent and a member of a civilian vigilante group working with the military said, yesterday, they counted the bodies at the mosque after last Sunday morning’s attack.
Also yesterday, embattled leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau made a video appearance and claimed series of recent deadly attacks on security forces in the North-East. Shekau also insisted that he was in "good health" despite an on-going military offensive aimed at crushing the Islamist insurgent group he heads.

He also challenged US President, Barack Obama; Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and French leader, Francois Hollande, saying they were not his match.
"You have not killed Shekau," he said in the video distributed through a local intermediary in a manner similar to previous Boko Haram messages.

On the massacred 44, the DSS agent spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to reporters. But agency reports quoted one Usman Musa of the civilian group as saying that four of its vigilantes were also killed when they responded to calls for help.
Another report said12 people were killed in Ngom of Mafa Local Government Area of the state between Saturday and early Sunday morning. The armed men, suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect reportedly invaded the two council areas during the Muslim Asba prayers.

Residents who fled to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, yesterday for safety, disclosed that the gunmen killed an unspecified number of people. A source from the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) said they received 26 victims of the attacks who are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Also a member representing Konduga at the state house of assembly, Ali Bukar Dalori told newsmen at Government House, Maiduguri that he received news of attacks on members of his constituency with shock. He said although he did not know the casualty figure, he was informed that many people lost their lives and some who were injured were brought to UMTH for treatment.

"I was told that many people were killed. I will be going to the hospital to see the victims; I think the governor would be going there either today or tomorrow to see for himself. But whatever it is, many people were killed yesterday," he said.
In the Shekau video, seated on a short stool with a Kalashnikov rested on his right shoulder, the Islamic sect’s boss said Boko Haram was "responsible" for several deadly raids over the past months.
These include attacks on the police and military in the towns of Malam Fatori and Bama, which sparked clashes that killed at least 35 people, according to the military.
The video contained what Shekau claimed was footage of Boko Haram gunmen opening fire on the military in Bama, using heavy weapons mounted on flat-bed trucks.
Shekau also referred to fighting in the towns of Baga and Gamboru Ngala near the border with Cameroon.
The Boko Haram leader has been declared a global terrorist by the United States, which in March put a $7 million (5.3 million euros) bounty on his head.
"I’m challenging Obama," Shekau said in the video. He voiced similar challenges to French President Francois Hollande and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."They are no match for me," he proclaimed.

Man Flogs 13-year old Son to Death, Buries Corpse (photo)

the grave in a 'circle'
 According to Punch
A 34-year-old man, Arogundade Ahmed, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly flogging his son to death.
According to eyewitnesses, Arogundade tortured his 13-year-old son, Qudus, to death because Qudus broke into someone’s house and attempted to steal.
Arogundade was said to have killed his son in the presence of his little sister, Sherifat.
PUNCH Metro learnt that after killing the boy, Arogundade dug a grave and buried him in front of his house in Alogba Estate area of Ikorodu
Our correspondent, who visited the crime scene, learnt that the incident occurred on June 27, 2013.
It was leant that the deceased was an apprentice at a mechanic workshop in the area.
A senior police officer at Ipakodo Police Division, who craved anonymity, said, "We were told that on the said date, Qudus broke into the house of one Apoti Lateef and attempted to steal. Lateef raised the alarm, accosted the boy and then called his (Qudus) master, Idowu Gabriel.
"Gabriel and Lateef said they tied up the boy and then called his father to take him away."
Our correspondent learnt that Arogundade took the boy home and then beat him up with barbwire, sticks and other objects for about five hours.
As the beating continued, Qudus started getting weak and later died.
According to eyewitnesses, on seeing that Qudus had given up the ghost, Arogundade called a grave digger to bury his corpse.
An eyewitness, Adekunle Adekoya, told PUNCH Metro that no one could intervene when Arogundade was beating up his son because Arogundade was a hot-tempered man.
He said, "He (Arogundade) is hot-tempered. When he brought his son home around 12pm, he beat him till about 5pm. The boy kept on screaming and we could do nothing to save him because we did not want his trouble.
"Some neighbours were also around at the time but no one wanted to interfere. After sometime, the boy just went unconscious. We did not know he was dead. It was when I saw a man digging a grave in front of Arogundade’s house around 7.30pm that I knew the worst had happened.
"I immediately called the Lagos State Emergency telephone number but no one came."

The traditional leader of the community, Oludapo Sule, said he reported the matter to the police as well as members of the Oodua People’s Congress.
He said they were able to apprehend Arogundade at midnight.
He said, "I received an anonymous call on the day of the incident and the caller told me that a man had killed and buried his son in front of his house. I was able to meet with the landlords in the area, who confirmed the incident to me.
"So, at midnight, he was picked up and taken to the police station. The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba and I have written my statement."
Sule however urged the police to ensure that Qudus’ corpse was exhumed and given proper burial.

Chairman, Alogba Estate and Palapo Town Community Development Association, Mr. Agboola Aluko, said Arogundade had been terrorising the community for quite some time.
He said Arogundade had inflicted machete cuts on Qudus before and had even threatened to kill members of the community.
He said, "Arogundade had beaten Qudus with a machete before and even almost killed his wife. That was why she divorced him. Even when he was being arrested, he threatened to deal with anyone who spoke against him.
"I have settled many disputes in this area caused by Arogundade. Even women in the area are scared of him. We have reported his bad behaviour to the police before."
Arogundade, however, said he did not kill his son. He said his son was merely beaten after he was accosted for stealing.
The police statement on the incident read, "Upon his arrest, Arogundade said he did not kill his son. He said he (Qudus) was almost dead when Lateef and Gabriel handed him over. He said his son died soon after and then buried his corpse in front of his house and went to bed.
The police source said, "We have also arrested Lateef and Gabriel but they claimed they only tied up the boy and did not kill him. Investigations are ongoing."
When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back.

We lost 14 Members, 33 Million Naira in two attacks – Bodija Traders

Traders in Bodija market, Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria, yesterday counted their losses in attacks by unknown gunmen (suspected to be Boko Haram members) which left 10 of their colleagues dead.
While speaking on the sad incident at Bodija Market, Public Relations Officer  of the market, Mr.  Emiola Akeem, said they had lost a total of 14 members and more than N33 million in the two attacks.

He  said: "On May 5, this year, four of our members were murdered in cold blood and N11 million was stolen from them, in the North. This time again, after killing them, they stole N22 million we contributed to buy beans and fish.
In the Meantime, even as business activities resumed generally at the popular market, the section for beans sellers was deserted with all the shops locked up. The traders who managed to come only gathered in clusters discussing the sad incident.

One of the traders, Mrs. Bola Lawal, said the action was just to sympathise with their dead colleagues. She
said: "We closed our shops just to mourn our dead colleagues. Look at their shops there. They were very nice and hard-working young men. See what these evil people have done now?
Emiola said he had prevailed on some angry youths who wanted to attack our Hausa colleagues, adding: "We cannot protest in Oyo State. The state government did not do any evil to us. It would be unfair if we now go to  the secretariat to protest. It is not the state government that failed,  it is the Federal Government.
According to him, his members would never go to the North again to buy goods. He  said the relatives of the slain traders in the first attack were even fighting them asking why they allowed their people to travel to North when they knew the place was not safe. Vanguard  gathered that of the 10 men killed in the latest attack, only nine corpses were brought as the 10th body was said to have been dismembered through several machete cuts. The image maker said a special prayer would be held in honour of the deceased soon.

Nigerian Customs Officials Kill 30yr Old Car Dealer, Without Cause

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigations into the murder of a 30-year-old car dealer, Uririnke Onojorhoevwo, who was allegedly killed by officials of the Nigerian Customs Service in Iyana Ipaja area of the state.
According to the police, the Delta State indigene was shot to death on June 16, 2013, after being pursued by customs men attached to the Federal Operation Unit.
Some policemen attached to Gowon Police Division, who witnessed the incident, said after the killing, the customs men fled.
A policeman, who craved anonymity, said,
"On June 16, around 5am, we saw customs men in a Toyota Hilux van with registration number, CS307A01, chasing a white unregistered Audi Station wagon. The customs men shot the tyre of the vehicle and also shot its driver.
"The driver, who was bleeding profusely, came out of the vehicle and attempted to run. One of the customs men alighted from the Hilux, moved close to the car dealer, and shot him again. They did not touch the corpse but entered into their vehicle and fled immediately."

The police source told PUNCH Metro that policemen later recovered the corpse and took it to the station.
When asked if the deceased was a smuggler, the policeman said there was no evidence to prove that he was.
He said, "After the killing, we began preliminary investigation. We thought he was a smuggler but we decided to search the vehicle. We discovered that all the relevant documents were intact including the customs duty.
"We also deduced that the deceased was driving from Idi-Iroko border and was heading towards Lagos."
Our correspondent learnt that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for further investigation.
A source at the Homicide Department at the SCID, told our correspondent that all attempts to get information from the NCS proved abortive as it did not respond to a letter written to it.
The source said, "We wrote a letter to customs two weeks ago. We even made telephone calls to their administration department, but they have not been forthcoming."

The elder brother of the deceased, Bakapo Onojorhoevwo, told PUNCH Metro that the deceased sold vehicles for a living.
He said the deceased was based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and was probably heading towards there when he was killed.
He said he was pained that his brother was not married and had no children. He said the family would like to know what transpired.
He said, "Around 7.30am on that very day, I called my brother’s telephone but a policeman picked it up and told me that my brother was involved in an accident and I should come to Mainland Medical Centre, Yaba. I went there with my younger sister and we were told that my brother had been killed by customs men.
"His corpse is still there and we are waiting for autopsy. My brother has been dealing in cars for the past four years. We do not know what actually happened so we want the customs to explain to us."
When contacted on the telephone, Public Relations Officer, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A of the NCS, Mr. Uche Ejesieme, said investigations were ongoing.
A text message he sent to our correspondent read, "We are on top of the situation. Necessary and appropriate steps will be taken in due course.

Domestic Violence: Man Kills Wife, Attempts Suicide (Photo)

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, Daniel Kanjo, for allegedly killing his 24-year-old wife, Meno Kanjo, in Elemoro, Ajah area of the state.
According to police investigations, Daniel stabbed his wife to death after catching her making love to another man in a bush near their home.

Seriously? Making love in the bush? SMH
Continue to read the rest of the story...
According to a police source at Elemoro Divison, after stabbing his wife many times, the suspect also stabbed himself in the stomach and in the neck.
The suspect and the wife were thought to be dead,  forcing the residents to call the police to evacuate the corpses
As policemen were packing the corpses to the mortuary, Daniel was, however, discovered to be breathing and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
The suspect, who had been discharged, told PUNCH Metro that the incident was the work of the devil.
He said he loved his wife dearly and never hit her prior to the incident, adding that when he caught her red-handed committing adultery, he lost control.
He said, “I am from Benin Republic but I have been living in Nigeria since 2001. I have two wives. My first wife has six children for me. However in 2010, I got married to Meno (the deceased) and we have a one-year-old child together.
“I am a bricklayer by vocation and I have never denied Meno of anything, even though she was a hairdresser and was making money. I was also faithful to her and showed her love.”
Pause: Did I just see "I'm a Bricklayer by vocation"? "I have 2 wives?"

Ok continue...

Narrating what transpired on the fateful day, the suspect said he came back from work in the afternoon and needed to collect something from the deceased.
He said as he was looking for her in the house, he was drawn by sounds emanating from a nearby bush.
He said, “When I heard the sound coming from the bush, I moved near and saw my wife having sex with a strange man. As I moved closer, the man saw me and ran away. But I was able to grab my wife and I gave her the beating of her life.
“I did not know what came over me, but I took a knife and stabbed her all over her body. Before I realised what happened, the devil also pushed me to stab myself. I stabbed myself in the stomach and also slit my throat.”
Daniel said some of his neighbours, who were drawn by the noise, started beating him up when they saw his wife on the ground.
He said, “After stabbing myself, I was still moving on the floor although I was weak. Some people came around and started beating me, saying that I must die too since I had killed my wife. They beat me up and took photographs. When I woke up, I found myself in the hospital.”
The suspect urged the police to release him as he was not himself when he was committing the crime. He said if he was sent to prison, his children would suffer.
He said, “My first born is 13 years old while my youngest child is a year old. I pay their school fees and I am responsible for their upkeep. If I am sent to prison, they will all suffer.”

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Damasus Ozoani, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

Man Steals Goat, Stabs Father to Death for Not Defending Him

A 21-year-old man, Samuel Eyo Nsa, has stabbed his 78-year-old father, Chief Eyo Nsa, to death at Eseko village, Creek Town in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River state, Nigeria.

His reason: the late father allegedly refused to defend him after he was caught stealing a neighbour’s goat.
The incident happened on Children’s Day when Samuel decided to celebrate the day with a goat stolen from a neighbour, Otobong Matthew, with which he prepared pepper soup to entertain his friends.

“When Otobong discovered that evening that one of his goats was missing, he searched everywhere for it and someone told him that he saw Samuel with a goat earlier in the day and had slaughtered it to prepare pepper soup for his friends to celebrate the Children’s Day,” Alex Edet, a Creek Town youth told Vanguard.

The revelation, our source said, made Otobong to report the matter to Samuel’s father that his goats were always missing and that someone had told him that Samuel stole his goat to celebrate the Children’s Day. He demanded payment for his goat.

Chief Nsa was tired of appearing in the village square to defend his son and to pay fines for things he kept stealing and, therefore, told the owner of the goat to report the matter to the police,” our source said.

According to Edet, after Otobong left the old man’s premises and was on his way to the police station, Samuel who was hiding behind the window listening to the discussion, suddenly appeared, accusing his parents of not defending him and threatened to deal with them.

Afraid that the boy would carry out his threat, his mother escaped, while Samuel allegedly gave her a hot chase brandishing a machete but when he got to a point where he met some youths decided to return to the house to attack his aged father who was said to be old and almost blind.

He inflicted several machete cuts on the old man who died on the spot and swore not to spare his mother,” Vanguard was told.

Samuel later attempted to escape as he fled into the bush but was apprehended by some youths in the area.

“We gave him a hot chase and got hold of him in the CreekTown forest and handed him over to the police at the Odukpani Police division,” said one of the youths.

He was after his arrest transferred to the State Police Headquarters in Calabar.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Mr. John Umoh, said the suspect would be charged to court.
