20 killed in Yobe as Bus Speeding to Beat Curfew, Crashes.

A speeding and overloaded bus crashed into a truck parked by a road near Pokiskum, Yobe State on Monday, killing 20 passengers.
The bus had set off from Kano and was headed to Potiskum, the commercial capital of Yobe state.
Potiskum has been attacked repeatedly by Boko Haram Islamists, and the insurgency had forced imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew in several areas.
The bus was reportedly speeding towards the city in order to beat the curfew when it crashed at roughly 17:00.
"A commercial bus carrying 22 passengers ran into a stationary truck" just outside Potiskum, said Sani Umar, an official with the state drivers union told the AFP news agency, noting that the vehicle was intended to carry just 17 people.
"The truck somersaulted several times on impact. ...We evacuated 20 dead bodies from the bus, with two seriously injured," he added.
He described speeding as the "likely cause," as drivers typically increase their speed as the curfew approaches to avoid being barred from entering the city when the military shuts off access at 18:00.

Police Recover Decomposing Bodies Of 10 Murdered Policemen In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police command has recovered 10 bodies of police officers killed last Saturday by members of the militant Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) in the Azuzuama waterways of the state. Two bodies remain missing.

Photos show family members and sympathizers await the arrival of the decomposing bodies recovered by divers overnight.

A security source in Bayelsa stated that the bodies of the slain officers were badly mutilated by the militants who killed them. The source added that the militants had taken the mutilated bodies into the bush to conceal them. He credited the discovery of the slightly decomposed remains to an intensive manhunt by members of the joint task force made up of soldiers, the navy and marine police.
In an official confirmation, the Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, Kingsley Omire, stated in Yenagoa that a combined team of security operatives recovered the bodies of the slain policemen along the creeks of Azuzuama in southern Ijaw local government area.  Our correspondent reported that distraught and grief-stricken relatives of the murdered policemen had as early as 10 a.m. besieged the police marine base in Bebelebiri area of Yenagoa to await the arrival of the bodies.  Victor Ebebi, an older brother of one of the victims, Lucky Ebebi, told our correspondent that the police merely told him that his brother, who was 31, was missing. He added that he was at the base to find out if his brother’s remains had been recovered.

“I came to Yenagoa from Bomadi in Delta State only to be disappointed that we were not even allowed to check if my brother’s corpse has been found,” Mr. Ebebi said.

Our source disclosed that the bodies did not arrive until 7 p.m. (Nigerian time) on Tuesday amidst tight security. Relatives of the dead policemen and journalists were locked out of the premises of the jetty belonging to the Bayelsa State Ministry of Transport.

The slain officers’ bodies emitted an overpowering odor which forced their wailing relatives as well as sympathizers to cover their noses. The remains of the victims has been deposited at the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa.

MEND had earlier claimed responsibility for the killings. Even so, the police as well as the Bayelsa State government denied the group’s involvement.

Twin Saga: Identical Twin Brothers Impregnate Identical Twin Sisters

Right from our childhood days, my twin sister and I are used to playing pranks on people; our parents are no exception, especially our father. The interesting thing about us is that it is only our mother who can tell us apart. Most times, we play pranks on him that gets him really infuriated but we see it as fun. However, it is unfortunate that I have to bear the consequences of what Franca does because I am Francisca.

As identical twins, we wear the same clothes, talk and walk the same way, wear the same hairstyle; in fact we do everything together both planned and unplanned. I could remember once when Franca disobeyed our class teacher in our days in secondary school and I was punished. The teacher asked Franca to help her bring her teaching note which she forgot in the class where she had just finished teaching. Instead of helping the teacher, she went to play with her friends.
The next day, while I was passing by the staff room, my class teacher saw me and said, “You come here. Where is the teaching note I asked you to bring for me yesterday?” Looking lost, I said, “Ma, I am sure it was my twin sister, Franca and not me.” “Shut up. I am sure if I call your twin sister she will tell me the same thing,” she said angrily. All my explanation fell on deaf ears as she ordered me to kneel down and raise up my hands in front of the staff room for almost an hour before she set me free.
When I got to the classroom and narrated what happened to Franca, she laughed and said, “Sorry Franca, I just couldn’t walk down to that class in that hot sun so I went to play with my friends. Sorry for being punished on my behalf.”
Even in our university days, many people could not tell us apart so Franca and I continued to deceive and play pranks on our friends and lecturers because we studied the same course, English and Literature. When it comes to men, all we do is just enjoy their gifts and money and once we feel we have had enough fun, we bid them goodbye and move on to the next guy. By the time they discover that we are identical twins, they get confused because they won’t know who to confront and that will be the end of the ‘supposed affair’.
Some time back, I was sitting by the swimming pool in one of this big hotel when this handsome dude walked up to me and introduced himself as Dele. I looked at him from head to toe and told him to get lost. Instead of quietly walking away, he pulled a chair and sat down. Shocked, I said, “Don’t you have any shame? I asked you to get lost and you sit down?” He smiled and said, “I like tough ladies like you. You have just won my heart. So what is that beautiful name of yours?” Funnily, instead of getting angry, I burst into laughter and said, “My name is Francisca and I am pleased to meet you.” We talked for a while, exchanged phone numbers and Blackberry pins. He promised to give me a call later that evening and left.
Immediately I got home, I told Franca about Dele. As weeks passed by, Dele and I became close friends, and then Franca suggested that we play pranks on him since I didn’t tell him I was a twin. However, we agreed that we would not fall in love with him, not in the least, go to bed with him. Dele invited me out on a dinner date, when I got there I had to record all our conversation so that Franca will not get things mixed up since she will be going on the next date with him. Once I got home, we listened to the recording over and over again because we have to play our game well. Dele looked very smart compared to all the other guys we had met. There was a day I mistakenly had a scratch on my right hand. Surprisingly, Francisca too had an injury in exactly that portion on her body. We made sure that whenever he visited our home, he would see only one of us. Of course, Franca had once visited him at home too, pretending to be me.
For me, I realised that at a point I started falling in love with Dele. He is a very likeable, caring and understanding person. He spoilt me with gifts and cash. Aside from that, he is domesticated and this really thrilled me. I like men who can do what women can do, in terms of house chores and cooking. I guess these attributes drew us closer to Dele. When I told Franca about my feelings for him, she confessed that she too felt the same way. She however warned that we must stay focused on just fooling him but at the same time have fun. Once we have had our fill, we would walk away just like we had always done.
This charade went on for about six months until the day I told Franca that I was pregnant. “How can you be pregnant Francisca. This was not part of the plan.
I am disappointed in you. How do you think our parents will feel?” she scolded me. While we were contemplating whether I should have an abortion or tell Dele so that we would know what next to do, Franca also discovered she was pregnant. “God, how can two sisters be pregnant for the same man?” I asked. Francisca looked at me and suggested that we should go and see Dele and tell him the truth. I told her it would be wise for me to talk with him first once he gets back from his trip to Ibadan.
Somehow, my mother found out that we were both pregnant. She asked us who was responsible for our pregnancy as abortion was out of the way. I could not tell her the whole truth but promised to take her to the house of the man responsible.
A week later, our mother, Franca and I went to visit Dele, but we received the shock of our lives. Dele, too, had an identical twin brother, Wale. Their parents were at home as well so my mother disclosed our reason for coming. “Dele and Wale, what do you guys have to say?” asked their father. “To tell you the truth, we never knew that Dele too had a twin brother,” Francisca confessed. “What? So you girls played your usual pranks and got pregnant for twin brothers? You girls took it too far this time round,” screamed my mother.
At first, I didn’t know you had a twin, you didn’t even tell me. I saw you and your twin sister at the supermarket and had this hunch that you girls were playing pranks on me, so I and my twin brother, Wale, had to play along,” Dele said.
“My daughters cannot have an abortion. Your sons must have to marry my daughters, if not their father will kill them,” pleaded my mother. “Madam, we have to talk to our sons and ask them what they really want,” said Dele’s father. “Father, Wale and I have already decided that we will marry Franca and her twin sister if they can prove which of us impregnated each of them. I must say we have come to like them a lot but they think they are smart,” Dele emphasised.
We never suspected that Dele had a twin brother too. The question now is, which of them actually impregnated Franca and I? Who actually deceived whom? Dele and Wale still visit us at home to know how we are doing but they don’t ever talk about marriage. What should we do as our father is on the verge of throwing us out of his house. According to him, it is a taboo in his family for women to give birth outside marriage.

Lover Boy Youth Corper Gets Stabbed in the Eye for Cheating

 Culled from Vanguard

A corps member, Emmanuel Oyelara serving in Ohaozara Local government area of Ebonyi state was  during the weekend, stabbed in his left eye by one of his girl friends, for allegedly having an affair with another lady within the area of his place of primary assignment.
Oyelara who is now lying in a critical condition at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, because of the injuries he sustained might never see again as it was reported that before the unfortunate incident, his right eye was already defective.
It was gathered that a fight broke-out when one Happiness and Maria, whom the lover boy Corps member was said to have been dating, eventually met in his house on the fateful day.
Investigation revealed that the fight was the fourth time the ladies were fighting in Corper Oyelara’s house over who would take over the lover boy corps member.
It was learnt that Happiness who hailed from Umuchima in Uburu town of the LGA, having been hurt by the promiscuous attitude of Oyelara allegedly used a broken bottle and stabbed him on his left eye without considering the consequences of her action.
Meanwhile, when our correspondent visited Corper Oyelara at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, he denied that the two ladies were his friends, insisting that they (the ladies) usually bring vegetables for him to buy until when both of them met in his house and engaged in fight.
According to him, when the fight started, he left to go and report the matter to their parents when Happiness caught up with him and stabbed him on his left eye. Further investigation revealed that the two ladies are single mothers; one with 3 children and the other with 2 kids purportedly from different men.
Contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester Igbo confirmed that the two Uburu ladies had been arrested over the incident as investigation were on to unravel the remote causes that made Happiness to stab the victim on his left eye having been aware that the corps member had difficulty in seeing with his right eye.
He added that investigation had proven that the victim was dating the two ladies, Happiness and Maria before the unfortunate incident occurred.

Margaret Thatcher: The Iron Lady in Quotes

Here are some of her top quips of all times:
  • Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.
  • If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.
  • I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end.
  • To wear your heart on your sleeve isn’t a very good plan; you should wear it inside, where it functions best.
  • It is not the creation of wealth that is wrong, but the love of money for its own sake.
To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukaemia with leeches.
  • I’ve got a woman’s ability to stick to a job and get on with it when everyone else walks off and leaves it.
  • To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects.
  • I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.
  • There is no such thing as Society. There are individual men and women, and there are families.
If my critics saw me walking over the Thames they would say it was because I couldn’t swim.
  • Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.
  • We want a society where people are free to make choices, to make mistakes, to be generous and compassionate. This is what we mean by a moral society; not a society where the state is responsible for everything, and no one is responsible for the state.
  • You need quite good shock absorbers and a sense of humour to be the Prime Minister’s child. and  finally,
  • “I don’t mind how much my Ministers talk, as long as they do what I say.
I like the last one best!

I killed Sarah Groves ... The Devil took over my Body

Culled from The Sun, UK

THE 7ft Dutchman accused of stabbing to death Brit Sarah Groves in a drug-crazed frenzy told her boyfriend: “The devil took over my body”.

Richard de Wit
Richard de Wit, 43

Holidaymaker Sarah was knifed more than 25 times with a 12in blade on an Indian paradise houseboat, cops believe.

Police chiefs have not yet ruled out a sexual motive.
Yesterday, officers said Richard de Wit, 43, had dramatically confessed to killing Sarah on Saturday.
The giant was then confronted in his cell by her boyfriend Saeed Ahmed Shoda, 25.
Saeed fought back tears as he revealed: “I begged why, why did you kill her? He brazenly replied: ‘I killed her; that’s it. The devil took over my body’. He isn’t normal.”

Sarah, 24, whose parents, Victor and Kate, live in a manor house on the Channel Island of Guernsey, was found wrapped in bedding inside a houseboat cabin on Kashmir’s Lake Dal.
She was staying with Saeed, whose family own the holiday craft, called New Beauty.
De Wit, who was on a neighbouring boat, denied allegations that Sarah was sexually attacked — claiming he is impotent, sources said.
But the officer leading the investigation said de Wit admitted killing her after taking cannabis.
Inspector General of Srinagar Police, Abdul Ghani Mir, said: “This is a horrible crime. There are 45 injuries on the body, made with a knife and in different parts of the body.
“No sexual violence has been established. We are still investigating that. The accused person has confessed to the crime.”

Police said de Wit fled barefoot from the boat in the middle of the night clutching just his passport. He was stopped 50 miles away.
Indian cops are liaising with Sarah’s family and the British High Commission.
Sarah had been due to fly home next week. Instead, arrangements are now being made to bring her body back to the UK.
Saeed and Sarah — a former pupil at £30,240-a-year St Mary’s School in Ascot, Berks and Chelsea College of Art and Design — had fallen in love after meeting in January in the Indian coastal state of Goa.
Saeed said: “She was a perfect girl — I will never forget her.”
A Facebook page set up in Sarah’s memory had thousands of comments by last night.
Close pal Christina Darmanin, described her as an “angel”.
De Wit will be held for up to 14 days pending a trial. Police have not yet confirmed a charge.

Woman Arrested For Brutally Torturing And Starving Her Stepdaughter

A woman accused of torturing and starving her teenage stepdaughter has pleaded no contest to child abuse-related charges.

The Wisconsin woman entered the plea Monday to first-degree reckless endangering safety and causing mental harm to a child. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes.
Both charges are felonies carrying a combined maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and $50,000 in fines.
The woman entered the pleas in a deal that came hours before her trial was to start. Prosecutors agreed to drop four other felony counts as part of the deal.
Investigators say the woman and her husband, the girl’s father, kept the girl locked in their basement, tortured her and starved her down to 68 pounds.
