Oscar Pistorius to be Freed from Prison...

Jailed South African Sprinter Oscar Pistorius is set to be freed from prison, next week Tuesday after he was earlier on today, granted him bail from house arrest by a parole board.

Pistorius was initially due to be freed in August, but following the intervention by the minister of justice, there were series of delays before today's parole board decision.

A spokesperson for the Department of Correctional Services said the parole board 'approved the placement of offender Oscar Pistorius under correctional supervision as from 20 October 2015'.

However, he still faces an appeal in the Supreme Court next month, which if successful, will upgrade his charge to murder and see him re-jailed for a minimum of 15 years.

Oscar Pistorius cannot afford a re-trial

South African prosecutors believe that the court was wrong for clearing Pistorius of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, last year. Instead of being convicted for murder, he was convicted of a lesser charge comparable to manslaughter. As a result, prosecutors want a panel of judges at the Supreme Court to review the case and convict Pistorius of murder.
His lawyers however, have said Oscar Pistorius cannot afford a retrial and has 'non-existent financial ability'.
The former Paralympic athlete's lawyers have claimed that Pistorius is suffering financially from the long and expensive first trial, and would not be able to afford another battle in court. They also claim prosecutors are persisting with a 'failed case' by appealing the athlete's acquittal for murder at South Africa's Supreme Court.
His case is set to go to the Supreme Court of Appeal in November, 2015

Oscar Pistorius Officially Charged with Girlfriend's Murder; Trial Date Set for March 3rd - 20th, 2014

Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius appeared in Court today, long after his last hearing. Today happens to be the day that would have been the late model's 30th birthday.

He was told in court today, that he will face trial for the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in March 2014.
A tearful Oscar in court

Wiping tears from his eyes, a visibly emotional Pistorius stood silently in the dock as he was formally indicted for premeditated murder at Pretoria Magistrates' Court.
The 26-year-old Paralympian, from South Africa, is accused of shooting Ms Steenkamp to death at their home on Valentine's night, but claims he opened fire on the 29-year-old after mistaking her for an intruder.
And after a hush finally descended on the packed courtroom, the judge set his trial to run from March 3 to March 20 next year at North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

According to BBC journalist Andrew Harding, who was tweeting from the courtroom and claimed to have read the indictment, the prosecution will present 107 witnesses 'including some who allege they heard loud "argument" before shooting'.
Before the hearing began he stood holding hands with sister Aimee and brother Carl as the three siblings prayed silently amid the commotion of the courtroom.

Friends of late Ms Steenkamp were also in court.
The prosecution will retain a main charge of premeditated murder. If convicted, Pistorius faces a life sentence with a minimum of 25 years in prison.
Additional charges are also 'possible', prosecutors told The Associated Press, but declined to comment about the charges before today's hearing.

Oscar Pistorius' Girlfriend Foresaw Her Death

 Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp

As the Oscar Pistorius’s murder trial proceeds, new facts are emerging everyday. And although the defense is really working hard to ensure the accused is not found guilty, more incriminating evidences are being found.

According to  the UK Sun, Pistorius's girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp had premonitions of her death before she was shot and killed by her boyfriend.

 Reeva Steenkamp

It was recently revealed that Reeva Steenkamp showed her parents her painting of a gunman, an angel and a stairway to heaven before she died — after telling them of the couple’s constant fights.
The South African model also kept disturbing images of a woman’s spirit passing through a hooded body, a woman being attacked and a message pleading for God’s help on photo-sharing website Instagram.
Reeva, who was 29, was shot four times by the Blade Runner at his home in Pretoria on Valentine’s Day after witnesses heard the couple arguing.
The athlete, 26, claims he mistook her for an intruder and is awaiting trial for premeditated murder. A Steenkamp source said: “Her parents Barry and June are in turmoil and want Oscar to tell the truth. Reeva told them about rows and they were concerned.
“They firmly believe she had a premonition of her death and have pointed out a string of disturbing images.”
The couple are considering suing Pistorius for the distress he has caused.
