Music Producer OJB Discharged From Indian Hospital, Set to Return to Nigeria Soon [Photos]

Popular music producer and musician Babatunde David Okungbowa aka OJB Jezreel who left Nigeria about two months ago for India to get a kidney transplant, has been discharged.

Ojb's surgery was successful and he is said to be recuperating well. 

He is due back in Nigeria any time soon and sent out his heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians. (Read it below)

I thought I must take out a quick moment and let you know that I am officially discharged today from the hospital, after a successful Kidney Transplantation Surgery, by God’s Grace. 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Nigerians for your prayers and good wishes, without which all this would not have been possible.

What Is It With Indians and RAPE? ... Another Case

...Indian College Student Kidnapped & Raped For 17 MONTHS 

An Indian student says she was kidnapped, tortured and repeatedly raped by a canteen owner for 17 months after he drugged her food at college. The 20-year-old disappeared from her home in Hyderabad in April, 2012, and only managed to escape this month. 

News of the kidnap has sparked protests on the streets of Hyderabad and more than 15,000 people have joined an online campaign in support of the girl. Satyaprakash Singh, the owner of a canteen at TRR College, has been arrested.

The case will be heard under the stricter laws of the Nirbhaya act, which was introduced this year following the gang rape and murder of a student on a bus in Delhi. Last week, four men were sentenced to death by hanging for her rape and murder. 

During the horrifying 17 month ordeal, the student says at one point three police officers visited the flat where she was being kept after a complaint by neighbours.

However, instead of helping her she said they too raped her at Singh's suggestion before leaving.

She said Singh kept her in one flat for the first month but moved her to another at Bala Nagar, Gayatri Nagar, with the help of another woman. 

The student said he claimed he had raped and murdered Muslim girls before her and had been protected from prosecution by powerful friends. 

In the complaint to police, she said: 'He used to say that I am the fifth Muslim girl who he has raped and killed and thrown in a river. 

'He claimed that his father is and former Defence employee and his brother is a criminal lawyer who always saves him from getting into the police net', according to Gulf News. 

In May 2012, she told police she was able to steal Singh's phone and call her brother. 

However, despite her family going to police, she says officers did not respond to the claims. 

The student only managed to escape on September 4, this year, after Singh got drunk and left the door open.

During her ordeal, she says she was forced to have an abortion after becoming pregnant in captivity.

Her story is the latest high profile rape case in India to shock the country and police have banned further demonstrations about it after scores of people took to the streets. 

The outcry over the Delhi gang-rape led to a tougher law in India against rapists, but cases of sexual violence have continued throughout the country.

This month, a school bus cleaner was arrested in Mumbai on suspicion of raping a four-year-old girl after luring her to the back of the vehicle. 

A toddler is also in a critical condition in Ludhiana, Punjab province, after being snatched from home and then raped and dumped at the roadside. 

Last month, a 22-year-old photojournalist was raped by five men in Mumbai while on a photo assignment at an abandoned textile mill with a male colleague. 

On the average, a case of rape in India is reported every 21 minutes.

This is preposterous! Seems there are just a bunch of horny men walking around India! They see a female, and all they think is sex!

Delhi Gang Rape Trial: All Four Men Found Guilty

Four men have been convicted of the gang rape of a 23-year-old woman as she travelled on a bus in Delhi.

Akshay Thakur, Vinay Sharma, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh lured the woman and her male friend onto the bus as they returned home from watching a movie last December.

The physiotherapy student was raped and assaulted with an iron bar before she was dumped on the roadside with her friend.

She suffered serious internal injuries and died in a Singapore hospital 13 days after the attack.

The brutality of the assault triggered waves of protests across India, with new laws introduced and existing ones amended to give women greater protection.

Fast-track courts were also set up to try men accused of sexual crimes.

The conviction of the four men follows an eight-month trial, during which more than 100 people gave evidence.

The case had been expected to finish sooner, with defence lawyers accused of using delaying tactics.

The men, who were found guilty of all charges against them, including rape and murder, are expected to be sentenced on Wednesday, when they could be given the death penalty.

Defence lawyers for Thakur, Sharma and Singh, who occasionally drove the bus and cleaned it, said they will appeal the verdict.

A fifth defendant, Ram Singh, was found hanged in his cell in Delhi's Tihar prison in March. His family and defence lawyers believe he was murdered.

A sixth person, who was a juvenile at the time of the attack, has already been found guilty of murder, rape and kidnapping.

He was sentenced to three years in a correction facility - the maximum penalty he could be given.

The parents of the victim, who argue the punishment is too lenient, called for him to be tried as an adult and to be hanged.

Another Gang Rape in India: American Tourist Falls Victim

An American woman has been gang-raped in a town in northern India.

 

The 30-year-old got a lift with a driver of a truck on Monday, which also had two other men travelling in it.

The woman was driven to a secluded area where she says she was raped by the three men.

She reported the attack to police and an investigation was launched.

Police said three men have been arrested in connection with the alleged hour-long assault.

Authorities had issued an alert and set up roadblocks to check any trucks leaving the town.

 

The arrests come after a survey suggested the number of foreign women tourists visiting India has fallen by 35% following several sex attacks that have made global headlines.

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India said female tourist arrivals fell after the fatal gang rape of a 23-year-old Indian student by six men on a bus in Delhi last December.

That attack brought simmering anger about endemic sex crime to the surface and led to violent protests in cities across the country.

It was followed by reports of further attacks, including the alleged gang rape of a Swiss cyclist in the central state of Madhya Pradesh in March.

In a separate incident the same month, a British woman travelling in northern India jumped out of the third-floor window of her hotel room in Uttar Pradesh fearing a sexual attack after the hotel's owner tried to force his way into the room.

A South Korean tourist was allegedly drugged and raped in the same state in January by the son of the owner of a hotel where she was staying.
