A former staff of Transcorp Hilton hotel, Abuja, Blessing
Victor is currently studying in an aviation school in Lagos, free of charge, as a reward
for her honesty.
Blessing Victor, who was a room attendant in the Housekeeping Department of
Transcorp Hilton found N500,000 cash in a room she was cleaning, after the
occupant had checked out. The money, apparently left by the last
occupant of the room, was returned by Blessing to her supervisor and
recorded as lost but found.
The guest later discovered his money was missing and quickly
contacted the hotel, not sure if he actually left the money in the room.
The guest was however surprised to learn that the room attendant who cleaned
the room after he checked out found the money and returned it intact.
Impressed by this rare show of honesty, the guest returned to the
hotel two weeks later to reward Blessing for her display of honesty and
integrity. She was rewarded with a cash prize of N100,000. The guest
didn’t stop with the cash reward, he offered Blessing the opportunity to
further her education at the Nigerian Aviation School in Lagos by
paying full tuition for a two-year diploma course for her. Integrity
does pay!
Blessing’s exemplary conduct was also recognized by the hotel
management.
At a reception organised for her, the General Manager
thanked her for living the Hilton Value of Integrity and presented her
with a Blue Energy Certificate in addition to an offer of complimentary
stay in the hotel on any weekend of her choice.
Honesty truly pays!
