Dana Air Crash: One Year in Mind

Exactly one year ago today, A Dana Airplane crashed, killing all 154 persons onboard, and some other Nigerians whose houses were affected by the crash.
Today, we remember the Dana Air victims;
The innocent passengers who boarded that flight like every other flight, but never got to their destination.
The Dana Air crew members who had as usual resumed that day for work,
The family who lost about 9 family members in that crash.
The kids who lost their parents within minutes of leaving their home to run an errand... only to get back to meet the devastating shock of their home destroyed, with their parents in it...
Then the innocent ones who were going about their normal day business at the crash site.

A very unfortunate incident we pray never recurs.

The ill-fated Dana aircraft, marked J9 992, had taken off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on the 3rd of June, 2012 and crashed at Iju Ishaga on the outskirts of Lagos, while trying to land. All 154 people on board and an unknown number on the ground, were killed.
To mark the one year remembrance of the crash, the Federal Government said it would unveil a cenotaph in their memory on Monday (today).
The Federal Government also instituted an annual aviation safety programme which will be observed from June 3, 2013, and will be done every year in honour of the victims.
Indeed, it was a tremendous loss to Nigeria as a whole.
May their souls continue to rest in peace.
