Photo: Commercial Bus Crashes into Shop in Port Harcourt

Scene of the incident
A commercial bus within Port Harcourt city ran into a roadside shop, leaving a passenger bleeding profusely with a ruptured skull and others with various degrees of injury.
The incident which happened at about 9.30 pm at Ada George Road on Wednesday night, would have been more horrible if the shop owners who sell tiles and ceramics had not closed business for the day.

Fabian Woke (a witness), said a squatter trader who uses front of the shop to sell kerosene and fuel at night was even luckier when the bus broke into the shop. According to him,
The guy was lucky. He closed earlier than usual to watch the Chelsea/Benfica Europa Cup final at a nearby barber shop. It didn’t take 10 minutes after he left when the bus came crashing into the shop,”
Among the victims of the incident was a pedestrian who was swept of the roadside by the bus and dragged underneath with a deep gash to his belly.
It was not clear what led to the accident, but Woke quoted an unhurt passenger in the crashed bus as saying that a female passenger had a scuffle with the driver following argument over the balance of her fare.
