Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder (Matthew 26:36).

In John 16:13, Jesus said, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." It’s important for every Christian to spend time to pray with, or in, the spirit; that is, praying in tongues. That’s how you prepare yourself for what’s ahead.
Part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life is to show you the future, and lead you into that glorious future that’s been preordained for you by God. The Bible says, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" (Romans 8:14). Every child of God ought to live perpetually by the leading of the Spirit. You should never be in the dark about the future. When you pray in tongues, it’s an opportune moment for you to receive the divine guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit concerning your life.
Your life will not be full of negative surprises if you’re a man or woman of prayer. Prayerful preparations precede glorious manifestations. So, before you make that choice, take that decision, make that next move in the ministry, or in your business, take some time to pray in the Holy Ghost, until you get the note of victory in your spirit to proceed.
Never be too busy or lazy to prepare yourself prayerfully before embarking on any project. That’s one of the secrets of a stress-free life of consistent victory and progress. Your earnest, heartfelt, continued, and fervent prayer will cause a release of God’s power in your life and produce victory for you at every count. From our theme verse, we observe how the Lord Jesus took out time to pray just before His arrest, prosecution, and subsequent crucifixion. He prayerfully prepared Himself for what was ahead.
Prayer
Dear Lord, I thank you for the opportunity and privilege of prayer, and the release of your power upon my life and in my circumstances as I spend time in fellowship with you. I declare that my life is for your glory, and your will is established in my life today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
