Benue Police Command said on Wednesday it had found the corpse of a
police officer allegedly killed by some villagers in Naka, Gwer Local
Government Area of the state.
The command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ezeala, said in
Makurdi that Sgt. Muktari Ibrahim was allegedly shot dead by some
villagers near Naka on March 23.
Ezeala said the corpse was found on Wednesday at a bush at Naka by a
police search party adding that Ibrahim and others were deployed to
Naka on peace keeping mission but they were ambushed while returning
from the crisis zone.
He said the ambush took place in Naka during the recent communal
crisis between Tiv and Fulani herdsmen and that three other police men
were shot during the attack
