Guard Your Heart · Thursday, February 28th
Pastor Chris
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
Your mind is the door to your human spirit
and whatever words and thoughts you allow to go through your mind,
unchecked, will be deposited in your spirit. This is the reason you must
screen and filter your thoughts and mount garrison over your heart,
because out of your heart are the issues of life.
Every day, we
hear words, see things, and read all kinds of information, positive and
negative. You need to mount guard on your heart and not allow your
spirit receive and process the negative information that come to us from
the world. Refuse to be influenced or controlled by anything you hear,
feel or see that’s not consistent with the provision of the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.
For example, media reports lately have consistently
bemoaned the lingering world economic crises, forecasting stiffer
financial trouble and greater recession for many more nations around the
world. As a result, many have become faithless, not knowing what to do
to escape the manacles of inflation, poverty, and deprivation. Well,
that has nothing to do with you, so don’t dwell on it. Job 22:29 says,
"When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, there is lifting up…."
Rather than allow such negative reports instill fear in you, say,
"That’s not for me. I function in the realm of super-abundance because
I’m a child of God; an heir of the Sovereign, and a joint heir with
Christ. Therefore I can never be disadvantaged in life."
Don’t
accommodate the wrong thoughts, otherwise they’ll stir up fear in you.
Use the Word of God as a filter to stop contrary thoughts from getting
into your "heart disk." Keep vigilant watch over your heart. Your life
today is the direct result of your thoughts and your words. The thoughts
you allow give rise to the words you speak, which is why the Word
enjoins us to renew our minds: "And be not conformed to this world: but
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…" (Romans 12:2).
That
transformation begins with the content of your thoughts. Reject
thoughts of fear, sickness, lack, sorrow, and failure. Embrace the
thoughts of success, victory, health, prosperity, happiness, and
fulfilment that come from God’s Word.
Confession
The Word is my life, and will continually govern my heart and produce in me what it talks about, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
