Man Rapes Mentally Challenged Girl

A 42-year old man, Gowon Ewhe, has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 17-year old girl who is mentally challenged and was in chain, in their house at Egan area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS gathered that  Ewhe, who is their neighbour, sneaked into a room where the victim was lying and allegedly raped her.

The incident happened at 14, Akindele street, Egan, on the outskirts of Lagos.

He is now facing a charge of rape before the presiding Magistrate, Mr M. B. Folami.

The court denied him bail and ordered that the father of three children be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri.

It was gathered that Ewhe, who had ealier gone to work, came back in the afternoon when the victim’s parents and his own wife were not around and committed the alleged crime.

The matter was exposed when the victim started bleeding profusely.

When her parents returned and saw her pant soaked with blood and asked her what happened, she told them what Ewhe did to her.

The victim’s father went to Igando police division and reported the incident.

When Ewhe was arrested and arraigned in court, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Nichola Atumonye objected to his bail and informed the court about the health condition of the victim and said that if the defendant was granted bail, it will will send wrong signal to the society.

Consequently, he was ordered to be remanded in prison till 27 February 2013.
