JTF Kills Boko Haram Kingpin in Maiduguri

The JTF in Maiduguri, Borno State yesterday killed a  top commander of the Boko Haram Sect alongside three other lieutenants, and arrested three other suspects, following a search operation, at the Kasuwan Kaji areas of Maiduguri Metropolis on Monday.

The Joint Task FOrce (JTF) also recovered lots of Arms and Ammunition, in a confrontation that lasted for up to 2 hours Spokesman of JTF in Borno state, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, in a statement yesterday in Maiduguri disclosed that the killed commander of the Islamist group, who allegedly came from Kano, was behind the recent bomb blasts and attacks on JTF patrol vehicles at the Post Office Areas and Gambouru wards of Maiduguri, where several people, soldiers and policemen were either killed or injured.
Musa in the statement also said that the recovered arms and ammunitions include three each of AK 47 rifles and magazines, two Dane guns, 36 rounds of ammunitions, two bows and 18 arrows, including assorted materials for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The statement also said “the operation was intended to arrest a top Boko Haram terrorist’s commander and his group is believed to have come into Maiduguri from Kano to cause havoc. It is confirmed that he and his group are responsible for the recent series of IED/Weapons attacks on JTF patrol vehicles and locations in Maiduguri.
