IG Orders Manhunt for Killers of 12 Policemen in Bayelsa, last Friday

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered a manhunt for the killers of 12 policemen, who were murdered in Bayelsa State last Friday.
Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta MEND had claimed that its fighters killed the policemen, whose boat was ambushed in Azuzuama, Southern Ijaw.
The group said the deaths were to teach the security forces a lesson for scorning its warning.
The militant group had last week announced that it would resume attacks on the oil rich Niger Delta by Friday to avenge alleged collaboration between the Federal Government and South Africa to jail its former leader, Henry Okah.
But Police commissioner in Bayelsa, Kingsley Omire, said the killing of his men had nothing to do with MEND’s threat, noting that the policemen were only missing and their whereabouts were still a subject of intense search.
The killing of the policemen came barely a month after the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Chinweike Asadu, was gunned down in Enugu while visiting his family.
But rising from a meeting with the Police Management Team at the Force headquarters, Abuja on Monday, the IG said he had given an order that the killers be brought to justice.
Abubakar, who spoke through the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said the police would stop at nothing to ensure that the killers were brought to book soon.
Abubakar said, “The death of the 12 police officers on legitimate national assignment is sad, unfortunate and the police will stop at nothing to ensure that the killers are brought to book as soon as possible.
“The time is tough and the race against crime is tight, but with support from all Nigerians and all tiers of government, police and other security agencies will restore national security soon.”

In related news,
Another Militant group has claimed responsibility for the killing of the 12 policemen along the waterways of Azuzuama Community in the Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa state just after MEND claimed responsibility for the killings.
Two Militia groups, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) and General Adaka Boro Jnr group yesterday claimed to have killed 12 policemen along the waterways of Azuzama Community in the Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa state.
MEND had in a statement Sunday said the killing of the policemen was an outcome of a gun battle between their foot soldiers and security men.

Deborah Jolaosho
Culled from The Nigerian Observer

Deborah Jolaosho, the 15-year-old girl, allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man, Taju Adejumo, has delivered a stillborn baby.
We learnt that Deborah was delivered of the stillborn baby early last month.
After the rape, Deborah, who was a virgin, missed her period. Subsequent medical examination showed that the 15-year-old pupil of Meiran Community Junior Secondary School was pregnant.
The suspect had told our correspondent on the telephone then that the incident was the devil’s work.
Adejumo agreed that he had sex with the minor on one occasion, but insisted that he was not responsible for the pregnancy.
I did not do it intentionally. As I speak to you, I cannot understand what happened to me that day. Since that time, I have remained unstable. As for the pregnancy, I do not believe that action led to it. From the scan and tests, we were made to believe she is seven months pregnant but I had sex with her about six months ago,” Adejumo had said.
A family source, who did not want to be quoted, told our correspondent on Monday that Deborah was delivered of the stillborn baby at Crescent Hospital, by Baale Bus Stop, Meiran, Lagos.
The source did not state the circumstances leading to the stillbirth but he said the pregnancy was in full circle.
He said they were happy she (Deborah) survived the birth of her stillborn baby.
She was delivered of the stillborn baby at Crescent Hospital. She was delivered by Dr. Lateef of the hospital. The foetus has already died in her womb before delivery. We are happy Deborah survived,” the source said.

Mr. Shoremi Moses, the landlord of the shops where the incident happened, reported to the police that the three youths had died in their sleep.

When the policemen arrived the scene of the incident, they discovered that the victims were foaming from their mouth, ear and nose, an indication that they were choked to death by the generator fume.
Meanwhile, the families of the deceased have told the police that there was no need for post mortem to be carried out since nobody was responsible for their death. The bodies were subsequently released to them and they have been buried.

When P.M.NEWS visited the police station, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Supol Daniel Okere, was said to have gone to the Area Command.

But a source at the station confirmed that since the families of the deceased wanted them buried without any form of test conducted on them, the corpses have been released to them for burial.
“The families said they don’t want any test to be conducted on them, so we have released the corpses to them for burial,” a police source said.

When P.M.NEWS visited the scene of the incident Monday morning, some youths were seen mourning and discussing the circumstances that led to the death of Saka, Kadri and Wale.
An elderly man, who declined to reveal his identity, confirmed that the three friends have been buried.

Fire guts Alade Market, Lagos

One of the Lagos State popular markets,  Alade Market, Ikeja, was on Sunday engulfed in flames .
Although the cause of the inferno could not be established as of press time, eyewitnesses told correspondents that the fire was extensive.
Alade is popular in Lagos for its bureau-de-change activities and boutiques.
Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, also confirmed the incident, stating that officials of the service were battling to put out the fire.
He said, “We got a distress call this evening that Alade Market was on fire. We have deployed a team from Alausa station to the place. The fire is extensive, but as I am talking to you, we are working hard to put it out.
Also, a source in the state Emergency Management Agency said LASEMA had mobilised its officials and were at the scene of the inferno to assist in rescue efforts.
The state police command spokesman, Ngozi Braide, said policemen had been deployed in the area to prevent looting.
She said, “The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area is already on the ground. He is leading the effort to ensure that hoodlums did not take advantage of the confusion that the inferno will cause to commit crime.

Boy missing after stampede on Lagos bridge

The family of a Senior Secondary 2 student of Muslim Senior College, Oworonshoki, Lagos State, Nurudeen Arogundade, is gradually coming to terms with the reality that their missing son might never be found again.
Nurudeen, 16, who was the last born of a family of seven went for the Eko Carnival last Monday and had not returned home.
His friends said Nurudeen was seen falling into the river under the Apongbon Bridge while trying to escape from a robbery attack on the bridge.
A source within the family said Nurudeen left his father’s residence at 9, Abeokuta Street, Palmgrove for the carnival in the afternoon in company of some of his friends and without his parents’ knowledge.
The source said, “Nurudeen sold his father’s property to raise enough money to spend at the carnival.
“Nurudeen’s friends told us that after they left the carnival, they were returning home through the Apongbon Bridge, when they sighted a robbery attack on the bridge.
“They said they panicked and fled to escape being attacked by the robbers.”
It was learnt that as everyone ran, Nurudeen’s leg got stuck in a manhole on the bridge which had been opened by the robbers to trap vehicles plying the bridge.
He was said to have called for help but as the stampede increased, he was trampled on and he eventually fell into the river through the manhole.
Nurudeen’s step mother, who craved anonymity, told Punch Metro, “When it was 10pm on Monday and we did not see him, we became worried.
“Alhaji (Nurudeen’s father) asked for him, but nobody could find him. The old man woke up in the night and checked the passage of the house- because that was where he normally slept whenever he committed an offence- but still could not find him.
“On Tuesday, some of his friends started whispering about the incident. We pressed them for information. That was how they broke the news to us.”
She said in the hope of seeing him, the family had visited hospitals and mortuaries in the state and bought 15 gallons of fuel for a search party to look for him along the waterways and shores in Apongbon.
Nurudeen’s father, Alhaji Lateef Arogundade, the Chief Imam of the area, told PUNCH Metro that he had given up hope, especially after visiting the manhole through which he was reported to have fallen into the river.
He said, “There is no way anybody could have fallen from that height even if there was no water beneath, and he would have survived it.
“In the course of our search, we found many other corpses but Nurudeen’s was not there. I wish the government would provide enough security personnel to watch over that part of Lagos.
“It’s a pity this has happened. Nurudeen was a very dear son to me because he was the most useful of all my children and he ran errands for me well” he said.
Nurudeen was said to have nursed the ambition of becoming an artist.  His last facebook post on March 23 reads, “Lagos Carnival on my mind.”
The state police command spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said since the incident was not reported at any police division, there was nothing that could be done about it.

Ogun State Ministry of Womenv Affairs Probes Orphanage Rape Case

The Orphanage
The Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs has begun investigation into the alleged rape incident at the Light of Hope Orphanage, Akute.
The Director of the orphanage, identified simply as Mr. Atunde was arrested last Wednesday by Zone 2 Police Command for allegedly having sex with two minors.
Atunde was accused of having sex with two of the minors (names withheld), after one of them showed up at her school, unable to walk properly, with blood dripping down her legs.
The 13-year-old claimed Atunde forced her to have sex with him.
The school authorities immediately notified Project Alert on Violence Against Women, a non-governmental organisation, which in turn notified the Zone 2 police command through a petition.
It was gathered on Saturday that the orphanage had been visited by officials of the ministry.
The Commissioner of Women Affairs, Mrs. Elizabeth Sonubi, said the ministry had convened a meeting of orphanages in the state.
She said, “We would like to know if they are registered and when the registration was done. As for Light of Hope Orphanage, we have begun investigation. Our officials have visited the place but I will need a complete report before making any statement.
“I am aware that the accused has already been arrested. We need to take proactive measures so that the other children in the orphanage don’t suffer. For now though, we are still investigating.”
Currently, about 22 children live at the orphanage, most of whom are minors.
As at press time, it was unclear if Atunde had regained his freedom from police custody. Sources said as of Friday last week, Atunde was still trying to perfect his bail conditions.
A source said, “I know he was still trying to fulfill his bail conditions as of Friday last week. However, I cannot say if he was successful in doing that or not.”
There was no response from the Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Balogun.

Mass burial likely for Benin accident victims

Dead victims of the accident that occurred at Ugbogui along Benin-Lagos road on Friday might be given a mass burial if their identities can not be ascertained. Many of them were burnt to ashes.
The luxurious bus they were travelling in was engulfed in fire after a tanker that was hit by a trailer carrying cement exploded and only three passengers managed to escape with severe burns. Witnesses said the luxurious bus was filled with passengers.
The remains of the victims have been deposited at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital mortuary while it was gathered that the police authorities were waiting for directives from Abuja on what to do with corpses.
State Police Commissioner, Folusho Adebanjo said relatives have started showing up to collect corpses of their loved ones.
He said time would be given for relatives to identify corpses and added that the manifest showed that 36 persons died in the fire.
An official of the FRSC said they would soon remove  R.the vehicles from the highway to ease traffic movement.
Owners of the shops, vehicles and motor-cycles affected by the fire have demanded for compensation from owners of the tanker that caused the fire.
A mechanic said three Toyota Camry cars kept at his workshop were consumed in the fire.
Florence Olufemi said she lost 50 kegs of palm oil to the inferno while One Mrs. Dupe Abiola, a restaurateur, said everything in her shop got burnt.

What a huge loss... May their souls R.I.P.

Police Arrests Trader; Foils Plan to Murder Colleague

Njoku & Nwogu
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a trader in Alaba International Market, Anthony Nwogu, for attempting to kill his colleague, Afam Anazodo, in Isheri area of the state. According to police authorities, Nwogu and another person at large on March 21, 2013, set out to kill Anazodo at his home when policemen accosted them. It was learnt that after interrogation, Nwogu also confessed that he was going to murder Anazodo, who he described as a wicked businessman. A police source said,
“In the afternoon of March 21, Nwogu and another person he identified as Oyinbo, were attempting to snatch a car at gunpoint around Satellite Town when policemen sighted them. On seeing the policemen, they threw the gun they were using into the nearby bush and fled.
“Nwogu was later arrested while the other guy escaped. Upon interrogation, he confessed that they were on their way to murder Anazodo, adding that they needed the vehicle for transport.
“He also confessed that the gun was licensed but did not belong to him.”
Nwogu said Anazodo deserved to be killed because of the wicked manner in which he operated his business. He said,
I own four shops in Alaba Market where I sell label compact discs. However, Afam (Anazodo) outsells us through his wicked schemes. We had reported him to policemen, but he always managed to go scot-free while our business suffered. “One day, I approached another colleague of mine, Nnaemeka Njoku, who owns a licensed gun. I told him that he should lend me the gun and that I wanted to use it for an operation. He agreed but said I would have to give him my car as collateral and he would return it to me after I had returned the gun. “I had planned with Oyinbo that we would storm Afam’s house and kill him. I don’t know how to use a gun so Oyinbo agreed that he would pull the trigger. On our way to Afam’s house, we decided that it would be better if we used a stolen car to carry out our operation to avoid being traced. It was while we were trying to snatch a car that policemen arrested me.”
It was also learnt that the owner of the gun, Njoku, had been arrested by policemen at Area E Command, and that upon searching his home, policemen also recovered a bulletproof vest. Njoku, who claimed to own seven shops in the same market, said he had no hand in the crime as he only lent Nwogu his gun. Hear him
“My pump-action gun is licensed. I have seven shops and I import kitchen utensils. I did not join them in the operation and I should be released,” he said.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said the suspects would soon be charged to court. “A double-barrelled gun was recovered from them and they will be charged with attempted murder,” she said

An Open Letter to Women from Men

So I saw this on WDN and couldn't help but share it. Very Enlightening!
Read below:

Dear Women,
First of all, we’re sorry. We’re sorry that although we look like men, we often act like boys. We’re not even sure what it means to be men anymore. As we grow up, we learn that to be happy is to be self-indulgent and self-centered. We try to make enough money so that we can have the right TV with the right video games in the right home. We want to date you and maybe even marry you but we are scared to focus on someone else instead of ourselves. Isn’t it sad that we see committing to you as a potential threat to our happiness instead of a wonderful opportunity?
 Very Sad.
Here’s what we don’t understand: True happiness comes from being true men. We think and act like boys who don’t want their toys taken away. We look up to “role models” in the media who teach us to get as much gratification out of life as possible. We may claim to be spiritual, or even firm atheists, but pleasure is the god that we worship, whether we realize it or not. Unfortunately, women tend to be just another part of our hedonistic lifestyle. Please know this: True men won’t treat you like an irritating obstacle or a sexual convenience.
Noted .
A real man understands that women are to be cherished and treated with care and honor. He sees marriage as the opportunity to be a real-life superhero... he leaves behind his old identity and becomes a new person, dedicated to serving his wife and children. Although he will struggle at first, a true man who marries eventually understands that he can’t fit through the narrow doorway to happiness if he tries to carry all of his toys with him. There is just enough room for him and his wife, arm in arm, committed to their marriage. Women, you can help us become real men! Most importantly, we want to feel admired by you. Help us to know that you love us just as we are, even if there is room for improvement. Do this by giving us words of validation; praise us for the things we do well. This means more to us than we let on. In return, we will make sure that you feel loved and cherished by us. We will learn to talk with you so you can be heard and understood, not so that we can tell you how to solve your problems. We’ll also try to learn to express how we feel without withdrawing or getting angry. With polished communication we can learn that what makes you happy makes us happy too! What a concept!
Once again, we’re sorry. We are to blame, even though good male role models are hard to find these days. We’ve ignored our calling to become true men and instead act like we’re in high school for as long as we can. Please trust that we are capable of more than this.
OK!
If you are frustrated with the man in your life, do your best to forgive him and start fresh. After a while, if it’s clear that he will not become a real man, leave him. You deserve better.
A healthy relationship will make everyone involved feel happy. When we are happy, we are capable of living meaningful and fulfilling lives alongside one another. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we journey onward to find happiness and become real men.

Sincerely,
Men

WizKid is Still in EME - Banky W

In a recent interview with City people, see what Banky W has to say below:
When you released your recent album there was something a lot of people noticed?
Let me tell you that Wizkid wasn't on the album, first of all, I want to say what we like to call 'Bad belle people' because they think there may be  bad news and when you don't give them that news they start to create it because I guess bad news sells more than good news.
So I want to say categorically that there was no twitter fight. people go-online and use Photoshop to create my profile and say that I said this and they go and create Wizkid's profile and they go and say that he said that. We are working on Wizzy's project to make  it work, cause when you go international, things change.

So he is still signed to EME?
Absolutely he is still signed to EME.

Because the general belief is that he started his own thing ''star boy entertainment?''
Well you know that is something else he wants to do. he wants to start to his own record label and I mean I started my own label and look at where I am today. you have a lot of people fabricating stuff and making it look as if there is a battle and you know we do not belive in that.
We are all mature. we are all grown up people and we are all happy for one another. He is starting his label and we are in support of that, he is going international and working with Disturbing london and we are in support of that.
There is no beef, Wiz is part of the family legally, he is still signed even aside from contract some things are bigger than contract and money. EME and Wiz will continue.

Man Sacrifices Girlfriend Because her Zodiac Sign is Taurus

Strange things really do happen! So many mad people walking around, looking like normal people.
This is the story of a 22 year old man who beat his girlfriend with a console and stabbed her to death because her zodiac sign is Taurus.
Darrius Johnson admitted to killing his girlfriend, Monica Gooden, after finding out she was a Taurus. He said she needed to be “sacrificed” because of her Zodiac sign.
He told investigators that he decided he needed to do the sacrifice based on the Taurus sign, said Lauderhill Police Lt. Mike Butkus.
The 23-year-old Gooden was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the home she shared with Johnson in Lauderhill, Florida.
In addition to stabbing Gooden, Johnson used an Xbox gaming console to beat her.
After killing Gooden, Johnson went to a nearby apartment and attacked a random old lady. The elderly woman’s nephew saved her, stabbing Johnson in the process before he fled.
Police caught up to Johnson and asked where his girlfriend was.
“She’s in heaven,” he replied.
To make matters worse, Gooden’s November birthday didn’t actually make her a Taurus.
Three knives were recovered from the scene as well as a Xbox system covered in blood that had been used in the attack.
Police suspect she was asleep during the attack as she did not have any defensive wounds.
Gooden was enrolled at Broward College pursuing an arts degree.
I never in a million years would dream that this would happen to my first grandchild, and I’m still trying to figure it out,” said her grandmother, Mamie William.
Johnson and Gooden had a history of arguing.
Johnson is being held at Broward County jail after being charged with first degree murder.

Landlord, Wife and Others Arrested for Killing Tenant.

A suspected evil landlord has been arrested in Lagos over alleged complicity in the murder of his tenant on Monday night. The landlord, Akinrinlade Adebayo, his wife and two of his friend’s children, Dada and Samuel Anaeto were nabbed in the early hours of Tuesday following their alleged role in the alleged murder of his tenant, Uche Michael.
According to eye witnesses’ accounts, the victim was lured out of his apartment by Adebayo under the pretext that a sewage pipe from his apartment was broken and the deceased must have been responsible for the damage. The landlord, according to neighbours, had vowed that the victim would be carried out of his house dead if he did not quit his apartment on No 40, Church Street in Aboru area of Alimosho Local Government even before the expiration of his one and half year tenancy.  His first son, Tope Adebayo (now on the run after alleged active participation in the killing of late Michael) was said to have enlisted the support of his friends – the two children of Ananeto in the dastardly act. As the landlord was accusing the late tenant of breaking the pipe, Tope and his gang members who were having a party in front of the house did not waste time in descending on the victim and his household with guns, bottle and machetes. The deceased’s wife, Ngozi Michael gave the chilling account: "The landlord said my husband was the one who defecated and flushed the toilet. My husband said no, he did not do anything like that. “Before I knew what was happening, the boys pounced on my husband. They said they were going to finish him off today. He was running from them but they were pursuing him. They smashed his head with bottles. They were hitting him all over the body. The landlord was watching as blood was gushing out of his head. “He was drowning in the pool of his own blood and he was asking ‘What is my offence?’ but they were not ready to listen. I was crying and shouting. They started beating me too. They dragged and kicked me on the floor. “When they discovered that my husband could not talk again, they moved into our apartment and ransacked it. They took our money away and scattered our television.” She explained that her husband was later rushed to the hospital but his corpse was brought back. Son of the deceased, Ifeanyi Michael, who has been confined to his seat for some time by paralysis watched painfully as the assailants were battering his father. “I was watching but I could not move. They pushed me from the chair but one of them said they should leave me because my father was the target. They scattered everything in our apartment and took away money that my daddy kept to pay for another apartment because of the trouble here,” he said. One of the suspects, Samuel confessed when he was arrested that he and his brother participated in battering the victim to death but he regretted that he died because they never intended to kill him. All the suspects arrested are being detained at Oke-Odo Police Station as at press time. Further investigation revealed that the landlord had been having a running battle with the late Mr. Michael in a bid to force him out of the premises, even when his tenancy was still running. A close family relation and cousin to the deceased, Ndubuisi Odunze, explained that the deceased was given quit notice by the landlord barely a year after he moved into the apartment. According to Odunze, his late uncle was given a quit notice through one lawyer. “I advised him to engage a lawyer to reply the quit notice which he did. It was barely a year he moved in. “Later one Mr Anaeto, a friend to the landlord collaborated with my uncle’s landlord and took him to Mediation Centre to sign an agreement. When he told me about the development, I asked him to contact his lawyer. His lawyer now told him to allow him follow the matter legally. However, the landlord was not happy about the mediation arrangement. He and his family eventually launched a physical attack on my uncle about three months later. “On March 30, 2013, the landlord told him that if he did not want to leave there now, he would be carried out there dead,” he said.

I'm Still in Love with Jim Iyke - Steph Nora Okere

Actress Stephnora Okere and Jim Iyke dated for a while, many years back and according to an interview she granted Stella Dimoko Korkus in this week’s Encomium magazine, she’s still in love with the nollywood bad boy. Excerpts from the interview:

I’ve been maintaining a low profile because of the fact that I wanted to re-arrange myself for the future having made one or two mistakes in the past".

“What mistakes are you referring to? As an actress or your personal life?
Stephnora: Both. First as an actress, I allowed myself to put on weight and that is not good for the kind of profession I’m in. When I gained weight, I lost a lot of offer for movie roles. My personal life mistake concerns my involvement in a marriage process that never scaled through.
I got involved with someone who doesn’t understand what the word love means. It took me being involved in that relationship to realise what true love really means. It made me realise that I had loved and still do love someone else.

Who exactly are you referring to that you still love?

Stephnora: I still love Jim Iyke

Wow, that’s some revelation. I am sure even Jim Iyke will be shocked to read this.

He must have impacted on you strongly.

Stephnora: Jim Iyke was and is still the best friend I’ve ever had. He was not just around, he was there as a friend, brother, lover, companion. He was always there. He understood me.

Wonders! Jim Iyke????? Like seriously????? **bbm smiley lips sealed**
Ermmm, ok I cant help but say this 'that awkward moment when you are still in love with an ex who has totally forgotten ever dating you. Or didn't even regard it as dating, while you guys were dating'.

God Has Finally Silenced Our Enemies - Mercy Johnson's mum, Mrs. Johnson

In a recent  interview where the elderly woman was asked about her daughter, this is what she had to say:
"God has finally silenced our enemies. Those who thought my daughter would not marry Odi have failed, thanks to the almighty God that I serve. They tried but could not prevail over what God has destined.  We are going to welcome them in a big way. As you can see, we have started preparation to receive them. Things are been bought. The Aso Ebi will be bought soon and when they come, they will choose the pattern they prefer. Purity is my 14th grandchild. She will be taken to Uromi before coming to Lagos then I will be ready to take care of my baby. I was to go to USA with them, but I could not since my husband was not well then. But now, all is well.”

Indeed, all is well.

Federal Government Scraps NECO, UTME, NAPEP & Others

Federal Government has concluded arrangements to scrap the National Examination Council.
Plans have also been concluded to cancel the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination being conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board for applicants into the nation’s tertiary institutions.
JAMB will however not be scrapped.
The government’s decisions, which would be made public soon via a White Paper, are based on the recommendations of the Stephen Oronsaye-led Presidential Committee on the Rationalisation and Restructuring of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies.
According to a government source, the decisions were part of the recommendations made by a White Paper Committee set up by the government on the Oronsaye report.
The source added that upon receipt of the latest report, President Goodluck Jonathan has been meeting with Vice-President Namadi Sambo and a few top government officials to take final decisions on it.
It was in one of such meetings held on Tuesday that the final decision was taken.
Under the new arrangement, the source said in place of UTME, authorities of all tertiary institutions would now be at liberty to conduct their entrance examinations as they had been doing for post-UTME.
JAMB will however serve as a clearing house.
“JAMB will now be a clearing house like Universities and Colleges Admissions Service in the UK. If somebody gains admission into three universities and holds down space, immediately such person picks his first choice, JAMB’s system will automatically free the remaining two slots for other applicants.“JAMB will no longer conduct examinations but it will be setting the standard alongside the schools authorities,” the source said.
UCAS, which was established in 1993, is the British admission service for students applying to university and college, including post-16 education as of 2012. UCAS is primarily funded by students who pay a fee when they apply and a capitation fee from universities for each student they accept.
On NECO, the source said in arriving at the decision to scrap the examination body, the committee took into cognizance its huge facilities across the country.
But it was resolved that the West African Examination Council would absorb NECO’s members of staff and its facilities.
WAEC will also be empowered to conduct two Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations per year, one in January and the other probably in December.
Hitherto, only one November/December SSCE Examination is being conducted.
The May/June Senior Secondary Certificate Examination being organised by the examination body once in a year still stands.
The government source also said arrangements had been concluded to scrap the Public Complaint Commission, the National Poverty Eradication Programme and the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution among others.

EXCLUSIVE: MMIA ROBBERY UPDATE: PASTOR & 6 OTHER SUSPECTS CAUGHT

Seven suspected members of a robbery gang that attacked the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, last month, killing two policemen and injuring several others, have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ikeja, Lagos.

Surprisingly, one of the suspects was discovered to be the general overseer of The way of Joy church located in Egbe area of Lagos.
Parading the suspects before newsmen yesterday, at the Command’s headquarters, Ikeja, the command’s boss, Mr Umar Manko, disclosed that they (suspects) were arrested following information obtained from the  document of a member of the gang who was shot dead during the exchange of fire with the deceased policemen.

Operatives from SARS, led by the commander, Abba Kyari , he said, swung into action during which Pastor Ibikunle Olarewaju John was arrested in Egbe area. His confessional statement, Manko said, led to the arrest of six other members of the gang in Ikire, Osun, Ondo, Oyo and Ogun states, with the recovery of five AK 47 rifles, four dynamites, two locally-made pistols, sixty-four AK 47 rifles magazines, all loaded with 1920 live ammunition, a Toyota Sienna bus with an in-built space where the gang concealed its arms and ammunition.

Also recovered, were two masks and several charms buried in an iron box in the gang’s hideout inside a forest at Agoro village in Odogbolu local government area of Ogun state.

“ The suspects confessed to the armed robbery at the MMIA and several other deadly robberies in Lagos, Ondo and Kwara states. Part of the robberies they confessed to, were; the Oro First bank/Union bank robbery in Kwara state in January 2013; First bank/WEMA bank armed robbery in Osun state in December 2012 and the bullion van armed robbery attack at Odogbolu junction along Lagos/Ijebu-Ode expressway in January 2013. They also confessed to the robbery attack at the MMIA in February 2012, where about N600 million was carted away.

“The armed robbers involved in the airport robbery of February 2012, where N600 million was robbed and the March 13, 2013 MMIA robbery include Teslim Okunola now late, Kazeem Aderibigbe (the middle man that linked the armed robbers with the informant), Ibrahim Abdullai (main informant), Emmanuel Ehianeta (who earlier met his waterloo in the hands of operatives of SARS, during a gun battle in October 2012,during which12 AK 47 rifles, one Pump action magazine and several ammunition were recovered); Christian Joshua (from whom one Fiat Space bus with registration number AKD 791 BD, modified to carry rifles was recovered); Saheed Adekunle, Fasasi Jamiu, Ifeanyi Douglas(still at large) Felix Sunday (still at large) Asiwaju (still at large) and Shina Aremu a.ka. China (still at large)”.
During interaction with Crime Alert, the suspects said the policemen were shot dead out of frustration, over their inability to get their target. The robbers as gathered, missed their target that fateful day as they were held up in traffic. They regretted that but for the traffic they would have realised about N1 Billion from the foiled operation.

I administered oath on them before they went for operation— Pastor
One of the suspects, Ibikunle John, discovered to be the General Overseer of The Way of Joy church located on Alliu street, Egbe,Lagos, told Crime Alert that on the day of the operation,(March 13, 2013) he administered an oath of secrecy on members of the gang before they left.

The oath according to him, was administered in the gang’s hideout inside a bush located around Odogbolu area of Ogun state.

Hear him, “Yes. I am the one that administered an oath on them the day they went to work. I waited for them in the bush until they came back. In the bush located in Ijebu-Ode, there is a hut where one can even sleep if one wishes. But no one person can come there, except he is a member of the gang".
Asked to describe how the oath was administered, he replied: “You won’t understand because it is a spiritual thing, as incantation was said into a horn.”
Also asked if he owned a church of his own, he replied: “Yes. I am the general overseer. It started as a Spiritual Healing Church where God used me to heal people with diverse strange illnesses.”
Also asked why he ventured into heinous crime, if indeed he was a genuine man of God, he shook his head in regret and in an emotional laden voice, said, “I was introduced into it by Asiwaju. I did not know he was a robber then. But when I did, I tried to withdraw from him. But it was too late. He introduced me to other members of his gang.”
But we were made to understand you have partaken in some of the operations with the gang, Crime Alert said.

“No”!, he replied. “I have never gone on operation with them. What happened was that Asiwaju once told me to go and bring their operational vehicle from where it was parked after an operation and I drove it straight to his fish farm. At the end, I was given N50,000. At another time, one of them, Alfred, asked me to drive his car to Ijebu-Ode because he did not want to rob with the car on that day. That was when they raided a bank in Oro, Kwara state”
I got N45 Million—Atoba Adeniyi

Another suspect who identified himself as Atoba Adeniyi, 32, gave a vivid explanation on how the gang carried out the March 13, 2013 attack at the International airport. Although he claimed not to have fired a shot during the attack, he revealed however, that his role was to monitor the road right from Ijebu-Ode to the International airport and briefed his gang on where policemen were stationed. He further disclosed how the gang also struck last year at the same airport, where they carted away the sum of N600 Million.
Hear him, “I joined the gang last year. Before then, I was in Bayelsa. I was tricked by one of them to come and join them in a crude oil business and I came, only to realise late that it was robbery. My role in last year’s operation was to drive but I did not shoot. We were successful and at the end, I got N45 Million as my share. I used the money to buy a tanker, three vehicles, out of which I used as taxi. But I was duped of N10 million in the process".
After that operation, I decided to stay away from them. But they would not let me be. I even changed my telephone numbers several times . At a point, I decided to turn a new leaf and went to a church for deliverance in Olorushogo area of Ibadan.

I was living my normal life when they called me again. I told them I won’t come but they threatened to kill me if I did not. They told me to meet them in a bush in Ijebu-Ode and when I got there, I was made to swear an oath of secrecy. We were instructed not to tell Paul (a member of the gang) about the operation because they wanted to sideline him.

After taking the oath, I was told to monitor the terrain and inform them of where policemen were. I was almost killed during the shoot out by a member of the gang because it was dark and I did not know the terrain. However, at the end, I got N500,000. I knew the end was near for me since the last operation. The first signal was the death of my child immediately she was delivered. I regret my action and I am begging my wife and parents in particular, to forgive me”, he said.
I gave them information – Airport Staff
31- year-old Ibrahim Abdul, from Plateau told Crime Alert that he furnished the gang with information on the first attack. Ibrahim who blamed his indulgence on poverty, said he was tempted by the huge amount of money usually taken out of the country.

Hear him: “I have been working at the airport since 2009 and I usually see people carrying huge amount of money abroad. I then informed one of my friend’s, Kazeem, whom I met at computer village. That was in December 2011. By January 2012, he called me and said he would arrange a meeting between I and his school mate whom he identified as Asiwaju. We met in a hotel around Ikeja, where he (Asiwaju) assured us he was going to organize his gang to do the job. Few weeks later, Kazeem called to say Asiwaju had been able to get a five -man- robbery gang to do the job and that all they wanted was to meet with me, to confirm if the money was there.
The people moving the money out of the country do that every Wednesday. So, I invited members of the gang to come see for themselves. On the day they came, they pretended to be working with me. The following Wednesday(in February), I and Kazeem didn’t go close to the airport, we were in a bar drinking and waiting for the gang to call us. By 11 pm I got news of therobbery at the airport and I called Kazeem and informed him. We called Asiwaju and his gang members to get an update but all their lines were switched off. I became worried and thought Kazeem might have conspired with his friends to make away with the money.
But on Saturday of that week, I received a call from Asiwaju who said we (Kazeem and I) should come to Ijebu-Ode to get our money. We went and were handed two nylon bags containing N1.5m each. But I rejected mine because I knew the money robbed was much and felt my share ought to be more because I brought the job.. I was even about fighting with him when Kazeem held me back and whispered to me that Asiwaju was a dangerous man. Asiwaju later explained to me that the man who brought the guns they used for the job hijacked all the money and gave them peanut to share. He also said that the money he gave us was out of his own share. Out of the amount, I bought a car and opened a phone accessories shop at Computer Village.

I didn’t speak with them again until March this year when I heard of another robbery at the airport. I called Asiwaju and he said they did the job but that it wasn’t successful. He told me that before they got to the airport that the money had been moved from the parking lot into the departure hall in the airport and that they  couldn’t get into the place. He promised to see me when he comes to Lagos.
How I was arrested

"But last week, I was in my house resting, when the police came and apprehended me. When I was brought to SARS and was interrogated alongside other members, I realized I and Kazeem were short changed. Atoba, one of Asiwaju’s gang members told me that Asiwaju was given N90 million but he gave us only N3million. I’m not angry that I was arrested but I feel terribly bad that someone could cheat me in that manner.”
We killed the policemen because we missed our target

For Christain Joshua, he has this to say: “I and Saheed Adekunle, were the first to be at the airport. Our boss Teslim Okunola, also known as Esho, who was killed during the operation, instructed us to stay at the airport and monitor the movement of the cash before their arrival. We did but unfortunately, Esho, Asiwaju, and K-money who were supposed to storm the airport with the arms were held up in traffic and before they got to the airport, the money had been moved from the parking lot.

By then, it was about 8pm. I and SP were given a rifle and we went after the people carrying the money. But before we knew it, some policemen around opened fire and we retaliated and killed two of them. But by then, the money had gone beyond our reach. Frustrated, Asiwaju who is the leader of the gang, directed us to rob the Bureau-de-change so as not to go empty handed. We succeeded and collected over N10 million. Asiwaju who owns the rifles got N3million while six of us got N550,000, each. I used part of my share to clear off some of my debt before I was arrested.

Waje Replies Critics on Nudity in Her Recent Video

Following the controversy surrounding the release of her ‘half-nude picture’ online, Waje has explained that the said picture was not only an abstract, but also, part of her new video concept.
She offered this explanation when Showtime contacted her   on her new video.
According to her, the picture is a scene in her new single titled I Wish, released last week.

After being on set of the movie, Tunnel, I realized that our music videos are like movies painting the right picture and acting it. I Wish video is a lifeless theme and the song is a vulnerable song, and I tried to interprete it in that abstract nude picture with the broken mirrors. It’s me trying to interprete a woman’s vulnerability.”

she said.
Waje’s publicist, Ifeoma however refuted the rumour making the rounds that the singer went nude in the video, adding  “It was all graphics.”
According to her, Waje was putting on clothes in the video as shot by Clarence Peters.
Waje didn’t go nude in that video. She was putting on her clothes with some jewelries.  The trick was all Clarence Peters’ work who made her look as if she was naked. You would notice that the picture was dark and blur with just her face being the most visible,”
she said.

SHOCKING: Heartbroken Girl Kills 2 Brothers With Poisoned Drink

A jilted lover-girl identified as Chinonye (surname withheld) a native of Umunede, Delta State, has allegedly killed two brothers by poisoning their drink on Easter Sunday.
Reports said that though the people of Umunede have arrested the suspect who denied the act, indications were that the family of the deceased was seeking the help of a witchdoctor to prove the real cause of their children’s death.
It was reliably gathered that Chinonye had three years ago dated one of the brothers, Monye a graduate of Theatre Arts from the state owned University in Abraka who promised to marry her after his studies.
But this was not to be as he allegedly went abroad with another girl without performing his youth service.
As it were, Chinonye had reportedly sought the intervention of her would be parents in-law after experiencing heartbreak and was advised to look elsewhere and go about her business; a situation that allegedly deepened her pains.
It was also revealed that Chinonye picked up the pieces of her life six months later and opened a fashion home where she was said to have met another man who paid her apprentice-ship fee.
Sources said she had also threatened to avenge her pains at any given opportunity. Not long after, Monye was said to have been repatriated along with his girlfriend for inexplicable reasons.
Chinonye, on her way home from work last Thursday came in contact with Monye who was said to have begged for her forgiveness with a promise to make amend.
According to informed sources, Monye allegedly offered her some money promising to visit her on Easter Sunday.
In an orchestrated pay back manner, Chinonye allegedly confided in a friend her decision to  reconcile with the unsuspecting guy (Monye); a development that was sealed with evil decision to poison him.
Unconfirmed sources said that Chinonye had reached the plan to present him with drink item laced with poisonous.
However, Monye had also informed his parents that he was celebrating the Easter Sunday with Chinonye.
This piece of information, insider said, infuriated the parents who warned him to steer clear off the girl after he had done what they described as everlasting mark on her heart.
But the bubble burst on Sunday when Monye and the younger brother identified as Jude visited Chinonye who was said to have offered them plates of rice and some pack of drinks.
The unsuspecting visitors reportedly ate and drank what they were served.
Reports further indicated that at night, after they were said to have drank part of the drink happy that they had won back the heart of Chinonye, they retired to their beds where few minutes later trouble started as they vomited and died before help could come their way.
Police authorities in Umunede confirmed that the girl was arrested and is still being held for further investigation.

My Oga @ The Top Mr. Obafaiye Shem, Replaced as NSCDC Lagos State Commandant

Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, has finally replaced Mr. Obafaiye Shem, the man who postulated the “my oga at the top” mantra, as commandant of Lagos State Command. He was replaced by Mr. Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command.
The Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Olu Abolurin, who was in Lagos during the weekend, over the alleged killing of two of his officers by some policemen, introduced the new Commandant to journalists.
But Abolurin did not give reasons for Obafaye’s removal. Sources however hinted that the development might not be unconnected with his recent interview on Channels Television live programme.
Before now, authorities of NSCDC have denied taking any disciplinary action against Mr. Shem over the said interview. Their reaction followed claims that Shem had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of Interior, who supervises the NSCDC.
Shem’s travail started when he appeared on Channels Television morning programme ‘Sunrise’ and when asked the NSCDC website he said: “Hmmm, the website is, excuse me, my Oga at the top knows the website”. He again, cleared his throat and said: “My Oga at the top is working on the website and I don’t have them”.
When the presenters insisted that he should give a functioning website address of the para-military outfit, he dropped the bombshell: “ww.nscdc, that’s all”.
Immediately, the interview went viral and has become so popular to the extent that t-shirts with “my oga at the top” insignia has been produced and selling like hot cake across the country, even as some DJs and musicians have done what they called a remix of the phrase.
Some Nollywood actors and actresses had even produced and launched a movie titled, " My oga at the top."
