GRAPHIC PHOTO: Customs Officer Killed @ Seme Border by Angry Mob

culled from Punch
There was mayhem at the Seme border area of Lagos State on Thursday after a 35-year-old man, Saturday Joel, was shot by officials of the Nigerian Customs Service.
Eyewitnesses said Joel was hit by a stray bullet while some customs officers were trying to apprehend a motorist who was smuggling a red Volkswagen bus from Benin Republic into Nigeria.
It was learnt that after the shooting, some residents took to the streets in protest. The residents were said to have alleged that customs officials had killed at least three motorists this month under the pretext that they were smugglers.
It was learnt that in the ensuing pandemonium, the customs officials stationed in the area fled. However, a Superintendent of Customs, identified as J. I Motojelu, was said to have been driving by at the time.
PUNCH Metro learnt that in retaliation, the angry mob, led by a community leader, dragged the officer out of his Toyota Corolla car marked ABJ 663 DW, and killed him.
It was learnt that the irate mob, also set the deceased officer’s vehicle ablaze and set up bonfires at the centre of the road.
The culprits were said to have used the opportunity to steal some items that had previously been seized by customs.
Sources told our correspondent that some customs officials and policemen later returned to the scene and fired shots to disperse the mob.
Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, said his men attempted to put out the fire but they had to retreat because of the sporadic gunshots in the area.
It was learnt that the victim had been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
But the NCS Public Relations Officer, Seme Command, Ernest Olattah, said in a statement that the officer was killed while on his way to attend a meeting at the command.
He said, “We announce the gruesome killing of one of our senior officers by some smugglers in the Ashipa area of Seme around 9.50am on Thursday. The deceased officer, while in his official uniform, unarmed, and driving to the command’s headquarters for a routine meeting, was accosted by a mob who forced him out of his vehicle.
Led by an identified chief of the community, the officer was murdered in cold blood, while his vehicle was set ablaze.”
The customs spokesman said efforts were on to apprehend the culprits adding that the customs had achieved many feats this year alone.

This is SAD! It shows how very lawless the country is. Unfortunately, it's usually innocent people that get entangled in these killings!
I sincerely hope something is done fast, to stop these unwarranted killings and jungle justice in our beloved country Nigeria!

Word For Today: Anchor Your Life On His Word

Anchor Your Life On His Word · Friday, August 30th ·

Pastor Anita

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35).
Pastor Anita
God’s Word is the guaranteed change-agent that can transform you from glory to glory. Whatever positive change you desire in life is possible; you don’t have to cry about it; turn to the Word. Find out what the Word says concerning what you’re dealing with and then begin to meditate. 1 Timothy 4:15 tells us the inevitable result of meditating on the Word—your success and prosperity will be evident: "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all."
Many in the world today live in fear, following the uncertain global economic situation; that’s because their lives aren’t anchored on God’s eternal Word. When your life is anchored on the Word, nothing moves you. When men are cast down, whining and griping about the problems in the world, you’re unperturbed.
Job 22:29 says, "When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up…." In other words, when your life is anchored on the Word, you’re like a tree that’s planted by the waters— forever nourished! You don’t know when heat comes; you’re ever radiant, productive, and excelling from glory to glory. Your success and prosperity aren’t in the hands of any government; neither are they determined by the vagaries of the world’s economy or changeable human opinions. True success and prosperity are based on the Word.
If you desire a life of continuous progress and ever-increasing glory; a life that’s safe, stable and assured; you have to keep living in the Word. Study and meditate on the Word always. Avail yourself the opportunity to hear the Word through every available medium. If you listen well and long enough, the Word will mingle with your spirit, giving you an extraordinary mind-set of excellence, dominion, victory, success and greatness.
Confession
The Word of God is my life; therefore, it’s natural for me to live in, and by the Word. My profiting through the Word is manifest to all! As I put the Word to work today, I’m metamorphosed into the glory that I behold in the Word, and I’m filled with all the fullness of God. Glory to God!

Beverly Osu, Hospitalized

News making the rounds has it that Beverly has been hospitalized following her return from the BBA #TheCHase finale, where she sustained an ankle injury.

If you watched the finale live show, you would remember when she faltered while getting on the stage.
She actually had to be supported by two security operatives when she got into Nigeria, and was spotted wearing an ankle brace (pictured above). Guess the injury was really bad
We hope she gets better soon.

PHOTOS: Beverly & Melvin's 1st Interview after BBA; Beverly Says... I Love Angelo & Melvin Says: I Don't Love Dillish

Why does it seem like I'm the only one who believe Bev & Angelo didn't actually DO IT in the house?
Anyways, believe it or not, that is what it is!

Beverly Osu and Melvin Oduah sat down yesterday with OAPs IK Osakioduwa and Anita “Omalicha” Isedeh on Rhythm 93.7 FM’s Morning Show for their first official interview, since they arrived Nigeria.

They both made their points I must say as Bev categoreically said She LOVES Angelo and would marry him if opportuned, while Melvin said he didn't love Dillish and his priority in the BBA house wasn't  to woo her.

See the full interview below:

BEVERLY:

Did she have sex with Angelo?
I did not have sex with Angelo. I loved him and I still love him. I would get married to Angelo if I had the chance.

What about the Bathtub scene (Which kind of set the rumours in motion)
I’ll still say nothing happened between me and Angelo.

When Bev was asked about Angelo's girlfriend Candice, she said:
I don’t want to talk about his so called girlfriend because I don’t know anything about her.

Strategy for BBA#TheChase:
I talk a lot. My strategy was nothing. I just went with the flow.

In reply to Afrocandy's Porn Movie offer, Beverly says:
Afrocandy nibo? No ooo!!! Thanks for the offer but NO.

On her plans for the future
I’ll continue with my online reality show “Beverly Says” and I’ll finish school. That’s what is important now.

MELVIN:

When Melvin was asked about Dillish, his relationship with her and the fact that she won, he said:
As you progress in the game, you’ll feel more confident that you’ll win the money.  But still I knew it could be anyone of us. I don’t love Dillish, we’re just cool

What is next after #The Chase... He says
I’m taking my acting career to the next level. That’s what Nigerians should expect from me. More movies.

In a related development, Beverly's love Angelo has implored all Nigerians to love and respect Bev, as she's a great person and is loved in South Africa.
See his tweets below:

Naija una don hear am? give them a break! He loves her, she loves him, what more can we ask for? Let's give love a chance!

By the way, to Bev's haters lovers, she's back online and tweeting! Guess what? she's getting much love...

See her tweets below:

I know a lot of haters have suddenly turned lovers because in Nigeria, we like famzing.
Bev who had 15,000+ followers before, suddenly has 16,000+, barely 30mins after she started tweeting.
Naija I hail! #famzersoflife

Word For Today: Our Righteousness: What It Is And What It Gives

Our Righteousness: What It Is And What It Gives ·

Pastor Chris
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30).
Pastor Chris
One of the things our righteousness in Christ gives us is "right standing." Our opening verse in the Amplified reads, "But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our…. Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God]…." Right standing is the right or ability to stand in the presence of God without guilt, fear, inferiority, or condemnation. You received this ability from God when you were born again.
You can now stand in His mighty, awesome presence with boldness. This wasn’t by your own doing; God made it so. You can now fellowship with Him, and relate to Him as your loving, gracious heavenly Father. Sometimes, when we pray and say, "I command such-and-such in the Name of Jesus," there’re those who ask, "how dare you talk like that before God?" It’s because we found out what righteousness is, and what it gives: right standing before God. God imparted it to us in Christ Jesus. Jesus is our ability to appear boldly before the Father without blame but in love.
Something else that righteousness gives you is "rightwiseness"; the ability to be right; the ability to know what’s good and right from God’s standpoint. You have the ability to do what is right in the presence of a Holy God. He alone knows what’s right; when He imparts your spirit with righteousness, you’re able to see and know what He sees to be right. This is the reason you can live right and practice righteousness; right living is a result of your righteousness.
Maybe there’s a habit you want to stop, don’t say, "I don’t know how to stop it," because His righteousness is your ability to stop anything. All you have to do is say, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I put a stop to this habit." Don’t say, "O, Jesus, help me stop it." No! He already helped you by giving you His righteousness. Therefore, you now have the inherent ability to do what is right.
Confession
I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; and not only do I have right standing with God, I have the ability to know and do what’s right. Therefore, I reign in life over circumstances. I’m a success; I’m changing lives everywhere as I unveil the righteousness of God through the Gospel.

Teenager Who flew Benin to Lagos in the Wheel of an Arik Aircraft Gets Scholarship Award to University Level

You know as the saying goes, sometimes every disappointment is a blessing in disguise.

Barely three days after the story of a teenager Daniel Oikhena, who hid in the wheel well of an Arik Air aircraft from Benin Airport to MMA, Lagos went viral, he has been offered a scholarship by  De Raufs, a volunteer group.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the group, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, the group is ready to give scholarship to Daniel up to university level and help him realise his dream of travelling by air legitimately.
Shittu said: “Genius and ambitious citizen of our country must not be suffocated on the alter of political and bureaucratic enforcement. The little boy’s ambition should be nurtured through qualitative education, and the group is ready to give the boy all the necessary support to make his dream a reality.

His mum sure has a lot to be thankful for. Because apart from the fact that she didn't lose a son, his daring stunt has brought fortune to himself and family.

Burna Boy's Camp Refute Story of Him Assaulting Ticket Attendant @ Silverbird, Port Harcourt

Well, according to one of Burna’s aides, Burnaboy didn’t slap the young girl as another eyewitness said. She says she too was at the scene, and nothing of such happened.

According to her, it was just an argument and Burna Boy never slapped anyone. Arguments are meant to come up but because the person in question is a public figure, much importance is now attached to it. He was never arrested because the said show he went for in Port Harcourt was a Hennessy show in which he performed. So how will an arrested man perform in a show at the same time? The stories are all false.

Ok. #noted.

I really hope it's false because it's one thing for a public figure to get into a fight in public, and quite another, to assault a lady. Totally unacceptable!

AMAZING! Surgeons Shrink Indian Child's Head [PHOTOS]

The pictures may be difficult to look at, but 18-month-old Roona Begum's story of survival is remarkable.
Soon after she was born in a remote village in northeastern India, Roona was diagnosed with an extreme form of hydrocephalus -- a disorder causing cerebral fluid to build up in the brain

Doctors had given Roona just a few months to live.

"Day-by-day, her head started growing bigger, she stopped wanting to eat, she would just lie in bed, it became very difficult for us to carry her and take her anywhere," says Roona's father Abdul Rehman.

After five surgeries, Roona's head is now down to a circumference of 58 centimeters, still larger than the average 38 to 48 centimeters, but small enough to allow her to live a reasonably normal life.
See photos:

She constantly moves her head around, she is playful and most importantly, she can now see. She is finally getting the chance to be the baby she really is.
