ONE of the Boston marathon bombing suspects has been killed and the other is on the run after a dramatic shoot-out in the city, last night.

The alleged terrorist - dubbed "Suspect 1" by the FBI - died in hospital after a university patrol cop was shot dead on campus and explosions and machine gun fire rocked the city's Watertown area.

Police said he had a bomb strapped to his chest - and fear the second suspect, who is still on the loose, is armed with explosives and "wants to kill people".

Thousands of police and FBI agents are swarming around the city hunting for the second suspect - who reports suggest has received military training.

Police warned the other, named 'Suspect 2', who was seen on CCTV wearing a white baseball cap was now on the run, saying he is a "threat to "anybody that might approach him" and have warned Boston residents not to answer their doors to anyone.

The night of violence was sparked when a convenience store on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus, near Boston, was robbed.

Suspect 2 who was last photographed wearing a hood, is now on the loose, and the most wanted man in America.

He is believed to be armed with explosives and considered 'very dangerous'
